  REVIEW OF FINALMAJOR PROJECT (FMP) Student Name: Lauren Rushmer Pathway: Film/ Media Production Final Major Project Title: Morality You will need to submit this evaluation with your full project hand in 1. Briefly describe the final outcome of your project and the progress you have made, and if applicable how it differs from your original Project Proposal: I produced a script based on morals and pushing the limits of my own moral compass, related to crime which I then developed into a film and produced a teaser and promotional posters 2. What methods have you used to show how your learning has effected your project eg FMP Blog/ FMP Plan/ sketchbooks etc, and how has this helped with development of your work: I found that the sketchbook was the most successful method; I was able to reflect in my sketchbook rather than my blog as I felt I was repeating myself. I didn’t find the action plan useful, I preferred to write to do lists each time I had done something or something had changed, for example, my group member wasn’t in for a week so I had to scrap that week and do something that only I could do. 3. List the targets met (from the original FMP Plan and any that were added later): In my project proposal brief, I said I would: produce a script based on the theme of moral compass and pushing yourself to the limits of that compass; which would develop into a short film; and produce the advertising campaign around this. Initially, we had decided to produce a website where the film would be and multiple teaser trailers as well as interviews with the cast and crew, posters, drawings in the court (as a result of the crime), police style interviews with the characters and mug shots of the characters. In our group Georgie and I decided we would split the roles up; I would be in charge of the script, the storyboards, the cinematography and all the production planning and Georgie would be in charge of editing, sound and the

  advertising campaign. 4. Reflectingon your overall final major project, please discuss any developments which have contributed to the final outcome: In the script we experimented with gangs but decided it would take away from our message. I have also experimented with lighting as in Caught in the Act it was said to be too harsh, so I researched into 3 point lighting and implemented it into my work. I also researched into storyboarding and created an in depth storyboard drawing every frame which allowed me to refer to while on set. I also researched into colour theory and used this is post to set a mood for the audience. I also developed my artistic style in cinematography but looking into different artists and filmmakers and their work. 5. Please state what advice you received from others during your FMP, and discuss what you found particularly useful: you should refer to group reviews, one-to-one tutorials and feedback from evaluation groups The advice I received was to cut out lines from the script and to properly develop my moral premise and moral decision before writing any further. I was also told that I should stick to genres I enjoy and know the codes and conventions well. I was also told to do more contextual research that relates to my work such as drama TV shows such as Parenthood or the film Ordinary People. 6. Key points to take away – things to change about my approach (give at least 2) eg improve time management, what skills you have developed and how this will affect your future course/career and things to continue doing and to build on (give at least 2). What are you going to do next year? (NOTE – you may find it useful to refer to this document at the beginning of your next self managed project.) From this project I am able to take away that my time management skills need to be developed as I felt I began to rush towards the end, which I felt hindered the quality of my work. I would also pick my group wisely as my other group member didn’t keep up with her roles meaning I had to step in and do them in

  order for thebrief we wrote at the beginning to be met. I think I developed my organisational skills such as storyboarding and time tabling for the day of the shoot as that went really well despite forgetting one shot type. I also think I have developed my script writing abilities due to learning about subtext and implementing that into my work.
