Rotary District 5320 Membership Seminar
1) Rotary membership has been declining slightly in recent years, with more clubs but fewer members per club. As of 2009 there were over 33,000 clubs with about 1.2 million members. 2) Younger people make up a smaller portion of Rotary membership, with 70% of members being over age 50. Retention of new members is a challenge, with about 50% of members leaving within 3 years. 3) To attract younger members, some clubs are experimenting with new formats like community-based Rotaract clubs, new generation Rotary clubs, and e-clubs that use different communication methods and offer more flexibility.
