POETRY
For this workshop we’ll define
poetry as a condensed
expression of your thoughts or
feelings
Anything you put to paper with
intention can be poetry

IMMERSE, EXPLORE, EXPRESS
As a group, we will immerse ourselves in 2
short films from our OLIVE Film Collection.
Together, we will explore the themes brought
up in the films through discussion.
Individually, we will express our thoughts
and feelings through writing exercises to
create poetry as a response.

that was so powerful and vulnerable, i feel emotional
ense and heartbroken
my heart was racing throughout the whole film.. i couldnt explain it. i felt so vulnerable
We are forcing our veterans to dig themselves out
I feel relieved that he was able to get himself free by being creative.
it makes me feel bad because so many veterans have ptsd but they dont have the
options of getting help
i imagined the film ending in a different way and hoped it didn't come to it so i was
happy to see he freed himself. makes me feel horrible for thinking that

At first I thought my writing would
be more dark, but I ended up
writing more about hope and
finding the light in an unreachable
place
it felt empowering because i had
my train of thought and it ended
up being redirected to something i
never was aware of
i feel recognized and cathartic. recent
themes in my life continue to be brought
up but the prompt made me more
familiarized with how i feel about those
themes
And now we see that the "un" is their
meaning, I reject the "un" in my reality,
to become: reaching the reachable.
Who puts the UN in unreachable?
i felt broken because
how was i supposed to
achieve something i had
no real desire to reach?
Maybe it is possible... I'm used to working... I get what I want... I will always have myself and can take
care of myself... breathe... speak my needs and feelings... there is a clear way... to get to what's true

very inspiring, a journey towards healing…
i love how she was talking to her inner child, that was so beautiful
it was very relatable, hopeful, and touching... i loved that her realization
made her alter how she spoke to her inner child
I love how she finds acceptance in the end instead of fighting her trauma
she learns to nurture it and it helps her heal

healing does not have an expiration date or a time frame, that helped me a lot with my dad's passing
rust the process , also grief/healing comes in waves so just let it flow . notice it don't challenge or
question it
you have survived 100% of your worst days (learned that in counseling since it's like a testament to our
strength whenever we feel weak)

Sarah... sweet and loving... sensitive... empath..
intuitive. Protect yourself.
you come into people’s lives to show
them genuine love and they come into
yours to teach you self love. loving
yourself is a privilege not most have so
hold onto that feeling.

its peaceful knowing its
going to be okay and that i
have the privilege of waking
up
"There is a light that greets you every
morning/Through the blinds of your old
window, saying hello/To anew
blessing/That wide open eyes invites"
This new morning... I am alive. I am
clear. I know what I need to do. I
speak clearly. I take care of myself. I
get what I want. I am powerful, smart,
kind, and sensitive. I love myself.
And from this, I am free.
This new morning, i’ll make peace with
the unknown
To let myself experience life as it is, and
let go of the things I cannot control
"be reassured that when
the sun rises on each new
day, it is like you are born
again. Welcome new
beginnings and close old
doors."
