SIMPLE MACHINES SCAVENGER HUNT  By: Valeria Younan
Wheel and axle   ff Toilet paper dispenser: when pulling on the toilet paper, it rotates on the axle going in circular motion. Located in the bathroom. Door knob: when turning the door knob, the door knob rotates on axle which then opens the door. Located on doors.
Inclined plane   Stairs: they are an inclined plane since they help a person move up words and down words more easier. Located in the living room when there is more than one floor. sink: when water pours from the faucet, the slope of the sink slides the water in a down words motion. Located in the bathroom or kitchen.
Wedge Knife: When slicing through food, the knife cuts through the food making them smaller. Located in the kitchen. Pushpins: when pushing a pin through an object, it will go through the object and hold in place. Located in offices.
Pulley  Shoe lace: when tugging on a shoe lace, the lace moves through tiny holes which reverses the direction of force, causing it to pull tightly on the foot. Located in a closet. Blinds: when tugging on the string of a blind, you can either make the blinds go in an upward or down words direction. Located where windows are.
Screw Light bulb: the bottom of a light bulb looks like a screw. When screwing it on, it goes in a clockwise direction and when screwing it off, it goes in a counter clockwise direction. Located everywhere.  Jar lid: tightens around the jar like a screw. Located in the kitchen.
Lever Light switch: the switch picots around the fulcrum and triggers an electrical current which then either turns the lights on or off. Located everywhere. Mop: it has fulcrum that directs weight over a longer distance. Located in laundry room.
Stapler: Wedge : staples in the stapler. When pushing down words on the stapler, it sends sharp metals that hold paper together. Lever : top part of stapler. When pushing down on a stapler, it transports energy to a stapler which then staples papers.  Gear : uses energy from turning handle that spins around. Located in offices.
Can opener Lever:  arms of can opener. Arms open & close on fulcrum to grip the can.  Wheel&axle : rotating hand of can opener. When turning the handle, energy transfers to gear and wedge which rotates and opens can.  Gear : uses energy to spin around.  Wedge : when a can opener turns the can around, it cuts through the metal top. Located in the kitchen.
