FADE IN:
SCENE 1: EXT. LOCATION #1 – STREET. DAY.
1 Cloudy/gloomy day. Looks like 8am – suns not fully up and 2
there’s not many cars on the road. KATI is on bike in jeans 3/4
and basic hoodie, wearing a helmet and school bag.
5 KATI arrives to school and puts the bike in the bike shed then
6 walks off in the crowd.
7-20 the same shots repeat but KATI is wearing different clothes to show
these events are happening over time. Repetition- KATI is bored in
her current lifestyle.
KATI {V.O}
When we first met I was existing. What
I mean is I was floating through life
Doing what I need to get through Sixth
Form and get to university, to get out
of my town and somewhere where I could
be myself.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 2: EXT. LOCATION #2 – BEACH. NIGHT.
21 There are approximately 10 people around a bonfire sat on blankets
talking to each other and some milling around – most are drinking.
22-25 KATI is sat on a blanket with a bottle of alcohol and talking to a
boy although the boy is more interested in the conversation then
KATI.
KATI {V.O.}
I had friends, well, I had people I
Spent time with but they didn’t
Really know me. They are the ones that
Peer-pressured me to go to that bonfire.
26-30 KATI looks across the bonfire towards MEGAN. Still sat with the boy
although now even less involved in the conversation.
KATI {V.O}
That first glance was fleeting but the
Way you smirked when I looked over had
Me hooked.
31/32 Boy gets up and leaves after giving up and MEGAN joins KATI on
the blanket. MEGAN brings KATI a new drink as she sits down

33 and KATI takes the top of herself.
34-38 MEGAN and KATI start talking and laughing as they drink. MEGAN is
more confident and talking the most.
KATI {V.O.}
That first conversation was the most
memorable conversation I’ve ever had
although I can’t remember what we
actually said.
39 As KATI finishes her drink she puts it in the sand and MEGAN
40 puts hers down too. MEGAN then gets up and KATI looks
41/42 panicked until MEGAN reaches out and holds her hand for KATI
44-47 to take. The girls then walk down the beach together.

FADE IN:
SCENE 3: INT. LOCATION #3 - KATI BEDROOM. NIGHTTIME.
48 KATI is lying in bed looking straight up at the ceiling looking deep
in thought. She turns over onto her side and picks up her phone for
a second to check the time then turns it off and puts it down. She
then turns back around to try to
49 go back to sleep.
KATI {V.O.}
I did try to distance myself after
that night, I tried to forget you,
and that wasn’t because I didn’t
like you, I knew how I felt but I
didn’t know how I felt about those
feelings, and to be honest what others,
what those ‘friends’ would think
about me.

SCENE 4: INT. LOCATION #3 - KATI BEDROOM. DAYTIME.
50/51 KATI is sat on her bad on her laptop watching films when a message
pops up on her phone.
MESSAGE ON PHONE
[MEGS98 has requested to follow you]

52 KATI picks up her phone to look at the notification and smiles when
53-54 she opens her phone and starts to scroll. She puts the phone back
55-57 down and continues watching the film.
MESSAGE ON PHONE
58 [MEGS98 has accepted your follow request]
MESSAGE ON PHONE
[MEGS98- Hey! {Smiley emoji}]
60 KATI picks the phone up again when the notification comes through
61 and smiles as she opens it and replies. After she replies she stops
the laptop and sits up more waiting for a reply from MEGAN.
KATI {V.O}
I just wanted to go back to my
existing in peace and get through
my final year, so I could leave
and then discover who I wanted to
be with but of course you blew
that all out of the water, as soon
as that first message came through.

SCENE 5: EXT. LOCATION #4 - STREET OUTSIDE COFFEE SHOP. SUNNY DAY.
62 KATI walks/skips along the pavement towards the coffee shop she is
63 so happy she’s beaming. She walks into the coffee shop looking out
64/65 for MEGAN, when she can’t see MEGAN she gets her phone out texting
66/67 MEGAN. Megan replies and she goes to find her sitting down with to a
tea that’s already there for her.
KATI {V.O.}
The first time we met after that party
was a strange mix of feelings. You
looked so perfect sat there with my
favourite tea, which I still can’t
believe you remembered.
68 Both MEGAN and KATI are sat smiling and laughing every now and then
they drink their drinks.

SCENE 6: INT. LOCATION #3 - KATIS BEDROOM. DAY
69 BOTH girls are sat on the sofa at MEGAN’s house watching films and
eating pizza. The look very comfortable and content with their life
70 and everything around them. KATI is in MEGAN’s arms and she turns
back and says something to MEGAN which makes her laugh.
KATI {V.O.}
Every time we met after that was a
crazy whirlwind whether we were curled
up watching films…

SCENE 7: EXT. LOCATION #5 - MEGAN’S CAR. DAY. SUNNY.
71 MEGAN is driving and KATI is sat next to her. They are BOTH singing
72 and laughing whilst they are driving. KATI stops and looks at MEGAN
73 then MEGAN stops and looks at her to see whats wrong and they just
74 smile at each other lovingly.
KATI {V.O.} (CONT’D)
And talking about the most unimportant
things.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 8: EXT. LOCATION #6 - OUTSIDE HOUSE. NIGHT.
75 They are holding hands with each other as they walk into the house
76 and people call for them and they take drinks from others- still
77 holding hands and smiling. They start dancing with everyone else-
singing and jumping.
78 Or out at parties being teenagers not
quite ready to face the real world.
79 They are sat together on a sofa with a drink half asleep content
that they are together watching the world go by. MEGAN gets up and
80/81 helps KATI get up and then walks them back to MEGAN’s.

SCENE 9: EXT. LOCATION #7 - OUTSIDE SCHOOL GATES. DAY. SUNNY.
82 KATI walks out of school smiling and talking to others when they all

83 leave and she gets her phone out of her pocket texting MEGAN saying
she’s done with her exams. As she walks out of the gates she sees
MEGAN and they run to each other and KATI jumps into MEGAN’s arms.
84 They get into MEGAN’s car and start to drive off.
KATI {V.O.}
Everything was happening so fast one minute
we didn’t have a care in the world and then
exams came and accepting universities and
planning for the future.

SCENE 10: EXT. LOCATION #2 - BEACH. DAY. SUNNY & WINDY.
85-87 BOTH are at the beach running around and jumping in the sea. Wearing
the same clothes as the scene before- the same day.

SCENE 11: EXT. LOCATION #7 - IN MEGANS CAR OUTSIDE SCHOOL GATES.
88/89 BOTH the girls are sat in MEGAN’s car holding their results
90 envelopes. Once they open them they look at them then each other’s
91 and then hug and are crying/smiling.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 12: INT. LOCATION #8 - MEGANS HOUSE-HALLWAY. DAY.
92 MEGAN comes home and opens the door and sees an envelope on the
93 table with her name on it and the HARVARD stamp in the corner. She
shakily opens the letter and reads it in complete shock. On the
94/95 phone to ‘MOTHER’ crying and smiling. Hesitates to ring ‘KATI’ as
96 she talks to her and is still extremely happy but an underlying
feeling of sadness.
KATI {V.O.}
I always knew you wanted to go to
Harvard and I wasn’t going to stop
you and when you did get your acceptance
letter initially I was so happy for
you this was all you every wanted but
it didn’t take long for It to hit home
that you wouldn’t be just be a few hours
away but in a completely different country.

FADE IN:
SCENE 12: EXT. LOCATION #9 - MEGANS PARENTS CAR. DAY.
97 BOTH the girls are in the car with MEGAN’s parents as they drive
98 past a BOURNEMOUTH AIRPORT sign. The car pulls up into the airport
99 car park and everyone gets out MEGAN’s dad getting the luggage out
100 of the boot. The family walk into the airport with KATI and MEGAN
101 slightly ahead talking. When they get inside MEGAN turns hugs her
parents goodbye and talks with them each for a few seconds then hugs
102 KATI as they say goodbye. MEGAN then starts to walk off and turns
103-5 back to see her parents and KATI all watching and waving goodbye.
KATI {V.O}
Saying goodbye to you at that airport
was one of the hardest things that I
have had to go through- I wanted you
to be happy and Harvard was you happiness
no matter how much it killed me to see
you go.

SCENE 13: EXT. LOCATION #10 - KATIS CAR. DAY.
106 KATI is driving her own car looking thoughtful when her phone
107 vibrates on the passenger seat with a text she glances at it and
108 ignores it until she gets home. KATI pulls up at home and picks up
109/11her phone- she is smiling when she sees who the text is from. She
talks to MEGAN for a few minutes then puts the phone in her pocket
112 and picks up her bag and keys and walks into her house.
KATI {V.O.}
We did try the whole distance thing
we had set times to call and we
would text each other when we had
time to…

SCENE 14: INT. LOCATION #11 - BEDROOM. DAY.
113 KATI is sat with 4 friends in one of their bedrooms talking and
having fun with them when a message comes through on her phone from
114 MEGAN. KATI replies before leaving the room and going to the garden
to talk on the phone to MEGAN.

FADE IN:
SCENE 15: INT. LOCATION #3 - KATIS BEDROOM. AFTERNOON.
115 KATI is sat on her bed with her iPad on her lap talking to MEGAN on
FaceTime. They are talking and laughing and then the smiles slowly
116 fade. They are BOTH doing other things whilst talking- KATI is on
117 her phone and MEGAN is doing homework/writing.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 16: INT. LOCATION #12 - BEDROOM. DAY.
118 KATI is with the same group of 4 friends on a different day as they
are in the same bedroom talking and laughing again. KATI gets a
message through on her phone and she takes a glance at it sees its
MEGAN and ignores it.
but I guess we both had better things
to do,

SCENE 17: INT. LOCATION #3 - KATIS BEDROOM. DAY.
119 KATI is sat doing her homework with her headphones on when her phone
120 starts ringing displaying MEGAN’s name. KATI picks it up declining
121/2 it saying she’s in a lecture.
KATI {V.O} (CONT’D)
and looking back I think it was naïve
of us to believe we could survive the
distance.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 18: EXT. LOCATION #13 - OUTSIDE HOUSE. DAY.
123 KATI leaves the house with her family and checks her phone. The txt
124 thread between KATI and MEGAN comes up and shows that they haven’t
125 spoken in weeks. KATI puts her phone away again and re-joins her
126 family picking up her little sister as she does.

KATI {V.O.}
We always agreed its possible but no
matter how much love we had we needed
each other to be there for each other
physically- not just through the phone.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 19: INT. LOCATION #3 - KATIS BEDROOM. NIGHT.
127 KATI is sat in her room watching a show on her iPad and scrolling
128 through Instagram on her phone when she sees a photo of MEGAN with
130 her friends at HARVARD. KATI then phones MEGAN as they talk KATI
131/2 begin to cry.
KATI {V.O.}
I don’t resent you, Harvard was your
plan and to be honest if you had stayed
for me I don’t think I could live with
that fact that I kept you back from your
dreams.
FADE OUT:
FADE IN:
SCENE 20: EXT. LOCATION #14 – STREET. SUNNY DAY.
133-7 Parallel to the first scene KATI is cycling down a street with a
school bag but she is happy and smiling whilst cycling.
KATI {V.O.}
Our relationship gave me everything I
needed and I guess what I’m trying to
say is that thank you for allowing me
to really be me and find out who that
actually is. You helped me through
everything I was fearing and come out
of the shell of a being I was until I
met you.

SCENE 2 : INT. LOCATION #3 – DAY.
138 KATI is writing on a piece of paper and signs her name at the
bottom.
