SmartRail ecosystem began

support for its project.

The SmartRail ecosystem is essentially a
program for businesses and public-
owned tram operators.
The main goal of the ecosystem is to
strengthen and increase the
competitiveness of Finnish companies’
products in both the international and
national markets.

It is important for the ecosystem that companies in the
ecosystem have common goals. A prerequisite for achieving
these goals is to create a working network around rail projects
in Finland.

 Training simulator for Tampere Tram .Featuring
Škoda Transtech, Creanex, 3D-Talo, KAMK, VTT
and TRO.
 Automatic depot concept for Tampere depot.
Featuring Škoda Transtech, VTT, Mipro and TRO.
 Machine vision and neural network based
passenger counting solution for Tampere
trams.
 Urban Rail Cloud -platform.
 Electric Map Assistance – tram driver
assistance system.
Case: Mannheim
 In the summer of 2018, Škoda Transportation
Group won a bidding competition for the supply
of dozens of Artic trams to the city of Mannheim
in Germany.
 The total value of the transaction is over EUR
250 million.
 The first concrete opportunity to bring Finnish
solutions to international markets through the
ecosystem and in the wake of Škoda Transtech.
 In Central Europe in particular new digital
solutions and services are in high demand.

An open and growing ecosystem – anyone
with joint interests can apply to join.
 To date, conversations have been held with
more than 60 different actors.
 There are currently about 20 entities involved
in the ecosystem.
 The third innovation phase is aimed to be
launched in spring 2020, with a focus on
services, travel / logistics chain,
experimentation and authentication, data
refining and exploitation, and platform
economy.
