Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee, Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty! God in Three persons; Blessed Trinity! Who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. (1. Tim.6: 15-16)

HOLY TRINITY God appeared in the burnish bush Exodus 3: 4-5 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses . And he said, Here am I. And he said, “ Draw not nigh hither:” Put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. What He has revealed let us see What He has spoken let us hear What He has taught let us learn ( Job 36:26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.) (Let us stand on the holy ground our shoes off and learn)

HOLY TRINITY Once Moses prayed “shew me now thy way”. Exodus 33: 13 Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: Exodus 33:20 And Lord said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. Do you have the desire to know him closer ? Deu.29: 29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law. Pro.25: 2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter .

HOLY TRINITY Deity is clearly seen thru creation For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: (Rom.1: 20) The time Rev.1: 8 The family Ps.128 States things exists Ps.149: 4, 8 The world Phil.2: 10 Man 1.The.5: 23 Dimension Ex.25: 10 (Examples for different threes; yet combined as one)

HOLY TRINITY The Son has revealed the Father John 1: 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. Matthew 11: 27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son. John 14: 9 Jesus saith unto him, he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

HOLY TRINITY The Lord our God is one Lord Great in his wisdom, power and eternity; We cannot go beyond to interpret, than to understand what is revealed in the Holy Scriptures. God revealed in the Holy Scriptures is triune God (Trinity) Deu.6: 4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 1 Cor.8: 4 we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. 1 Tim.2: 5 For there is one God. (Bible reveals of One God only and we believe in Him only)

HOLY TRINITY Triune- Three but one - “Trinity” 1 John 5: 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. (In KJV only) God revealed in the Scripture is One in essence Co- eternal Co- existing Co- inherent Dwelling inseparable Three person yet one triune God Is it difficult to comprehend ? (If God whom I believe is limited to my human comprehension; He cannot not be God at all)

HOLY TRINITY Deity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit Eph.1: 17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: (The Father) Hebrews 1: 8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. (The Son) Acts 5: 3-4 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, …… why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. (Holy Spirit) (Thru the Scripture is revealed the deity for us)

HOLY TRINITY Co-exists ( Exists together ) Gen.1: 1 In the beginning God (Elohim) created the heaven and the earth. “ Elohim ” is uniplural; “ Eli ” is singular (Mat.27:45) Gen.1: 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: Gen.11: 7 Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language. Isaiah 6: 8 Whom shall I send, and who will go for us ? Isaiah 48: 16 ..there am I : and now the Lord GOD , and his Spirit , hath sent me .

HOLY TRINITY Revealed thru the Scriptures At Baptism of Jesus Mat.3: 16-17 Jesus, when he was baptized , went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son , in whom I am well pleased. With Great Commission Mat.28: 19 baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: In Benediction 2 Cor13: 14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ , and the love of God , and the communion of the Holy Ghost , be with you all.

HOLY TRINITY In relation to our salvation 1 Peter 1: 2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father , through sanctification of the Spirit , unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ : In relation to the giving of gifts 1 Cor12: 4-6 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord . And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. Believers duty in relation God Jude 1: 20-21 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost , Keep yourselves in the love of God , looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

HOLY TRINITY In relation to attributes (Devine character) Attributes – Natural (Eternal, omnipotence etc) Moral (Holiness, grace, truth etc) Omnipotent (Almighty) Genesis 17: 1 the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God. (The father) Rev19: 6 I heard…saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. (The Son) Luke 1: 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: (Holy Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY Omniscient ( All knowing ) Isaiah 46: 9-10 For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring the end from the beginning. Ps 139: 2 Thou knowest my down sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. (The Father) John 2: 24-25 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man. (The Son) 1 Cor2: 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things , yea, the deep things of God. (Holy Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY Omnipresent ( Present everywhere ) Jer 23: 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. (The Father) Eph.1: 22-23 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (The Son) Ps.139: 7-8 Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence ? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. (Holy Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY Holiness of God Lev 19: 2 Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. Ps111: 9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name . (The Father) Acts 3: 14 But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; (The Son) 1 John 2: 20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One , and ye know all things. (H. Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY The truth of God ( God is true ) Jer.10: 10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king. John 7: 28 Jesus said; I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. (The father) Rev.3: 7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true . (The Son) John 16: 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth , is come, he will guide you into all truth: (H. Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY Ability to do as will Eph.1: 11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will: (The Father) John 5: 17-18 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work . Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. (The Son) 1 Cor.12: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will . (Holy Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY Co-Eternal (Eternal God) Jer.10: 10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: Rom.16: 26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God. (The Father) Rev. 22: 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end , the first and the last. (The Son) Heb.9: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God. (Holy Spirit)

HOLY TRINITY Dwelling inseparable (Cannot separate each) Son inseparable from the Father John 1: 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father. John 8: 29 And he that sent me is with me : the Father hath not left me alone. John 14: 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me ? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me , he doeth the works . John 14: 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Luke 4: 1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Matthew 12: 28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

HOLY TRINITY Dwelling inseparable (Cannot separate each) Father and the Holy Spirit inseparable John 15: 26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father , even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father , he shall testify of me: Romans 8: 9 Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 1 Peter 4: 14 for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: 1 Cor 3: 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (We cannot see Father separated from the son, the Son separated from the Father, the Holy Spirit separated from the Father or the Son)

IMMORTAL, INVISIBLE, GOD ONLY WISE, IN LIGHT ACCESSIBLE HID FROM OUR EYES, MOST BLESSED, MOST GLORIOUS, THE ANCIENT OF DAYS, ALMIGHTY, VICTORIOUS, THY GREAT NAME WE PRAISE.

HOLY TRINITY The work of trinity in relation to: In Creation Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Psalms 148:5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created . Col.1:16 For by him were all things created , that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him : Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

HOLY TRINITY Incarnation of his Son to the world. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh , and dwelt among us. Psalms 2: 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son ; this day have I begotten thee. Psalms 40: 7 Then said I, Lo, I come : in the volume of the book it is written of me. Luke 1: 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee : therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

HOLY TRINITY In his sufferings on the cross Galatians 1: 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world , according to the will of God and our Father: Isaiah 53: 6 and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Luke 23: 46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: Hebrews 9: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God.

HOLY TRINITY In His resurrection Romans 1: 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: Acts 2: 24 Whom God hath raised up , having loosed the pains of death: Col.1: 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead . Romans 8: 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead.

HOLY TRINITY As to the eternal life Essence of God is life John 5: 26 For as the Father hath life in himself ; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; John 1: 4 In him was life ; and the life was the light of men. Rom.8: 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Eternal life comes from God God the Father is the source of it (Ps.36: 9) The Son is the giver of it (Jn.10: 10) Holy Spirit imparts the divine life (2.Cor.3: 6) Man is chosen the recipient of life (Jn.3: 16)

HOLY TRINITY In giving eternal life for us Romans 6: 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 10: 28 And I give unto them eternal life ; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Galatians 6: 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting . John 10: 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life , and that they might have it more abundantly.

HOLY TRINITY In sending the Holy Spirit for us John 14: 16 And I will pray the Father , and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; John 14: 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name , he shall teach you all things. HOLY TRINITY Major heresies against the doctrine of Trinity Most errors entered from the wrong teachings on the humanity and deity of Jesus Christ. There is no controversy on deity of the Father Errors (Heresies) Son of God has not come in the flesh Jesus was only human Jesus never possessed deity Jesus possessed son-ship later Jesus didn’t not possess the deity and humanity together. (We will look to the major heresies now)

HOLY TRINITY Major heresies 1. Modalism (The Heresy-The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are temporal modes- so denies co-exist or co-eternal) Supreme God manifested in three modes In Old testament time as Father In New testament time as Son From Pentecost as the Holy Spirit (Exist only in one “mode” at a time) This rejects the co-existence and co-eternal (Look back to our same study- slide no.11)

Adoptionism (The Heresy- Jesus was originally a man only and later adopted as God’s Son) Teaches Father as the only supreme God Lord Jesus and Holy Spirit of lesser rank Jesus as a perfect man and adopted as Son of God at his baptism Rejects Holy Spirit as a person of Godhead (This heresy rejects all the divine character and doctrine of trinity revealed) (Look back to study- slide no.8)

HOLY TRINITY Major heresies 3. Arianism (The Heresy that the Son is an inferior deity, and created, and therefore not eternal) More resemblance to Adoptionism Begotten of the Father so rejects eternal Accepted as son later (only unique of creation) So no essence of Father; so an inferior deity (Not only rejects eternal nature, but co-exists, co-inherent) Look back to our studies – slide no.8 Read 1. Tim.3: 16 (Mystery of incarnation)

Tritheism (The Heresy – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are three separate gods) This is extreme opposite of previous three Compromises on eternal, co-existence, equal But separates as three distinct gods Rejects the doctrine of co-inhering Look back to our studies – slides 7; 22 1 Peter 1:2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ Read Mat. 28: 20
