This document describes the design of a steering system for a go-kart using a mechanical linkages system. It discusses the Ackermann steering geometry principle and how it was applied in the design. Key parameters like wheelbase, track width, turning radius, steering ratios, and inner and outer wheel angles are calculated. A simulation of the steering mechanism is presented. The mechanical linkages system provides Ackermann steering with 96% accuracy. Analysis shows the stub axle design has a factor of safety of 4.15. The manual mechanical linkages system is concluded to be suitable for light vehicles due to its simplicity and ease of manufacture.
