Martin Ocelotl Birth of Martin Ocelotl (1496-1537).He spent most of his life in modern day chinantla, Puebla.Group – Native Indian turned Spaniard.MaleHis occupation was a native priest.Martin started out with the Aztecs and predicted the coming of Cortez; for this, he was thrown in jail. Right before Cortez over throw the empire Montezuma released him. After avoiding small pocks. He eventually became well known among both the natives and Spaniards. From this he became extremely rich. After acquiring all this wealth, naturally people became jealous and suspicious. He was soon accused of being some kind of a witch and was “ banished from new Spain and sent to the inquisitors of Seville to be kept in jail for the rest of his life.”      Witch craft
Diego VasicuioBirth of Diego Vasicuio (1580-1670s) Located in Southern PeruGroup- SpanishMaleParish Priest for Catholic church. His was important because his job was to convert the native Indians, yet instead he kind of created his own cult with Sorimana worshipers. Yet he preached similarly to Christian religion. He was later charged with heresy.
Isabel MoctezumaBirth of Isabel Moctezuma  (1509-1550)Located Mexico/Modern day Mexico city.Group – native AztecFemaleHer occupation was pretty much being a wife her whole life.Isabel ( originally known as Tecuichpotzin ) was married to Xocoyotzin, who in 1503 became Moctezuma ll. When Cortez arrived she was abducted by the Spaniards, but soon kidnapped back, by the Aztecs. During that duration of time she had about five husbands. The last of which was Cuauhtemoc ( the last of the Aztec emperors ). When Cortez finally over throw the Aztec empire she was taking again. Where she was soon “Christianized”.        Cortez
FranciscaBirth of Francisca (c.1700-1750), Amazonia.Brazil – Colombia – Venezuela border  Group - Native Indian Gender - FemaleOccupation – SlaveFrancisca spend most of her childhood in the frontier village of the Manao chief Amu, on the isle of Timoni in the Negro.She “ enjoyed an easily daily interaction with both children and adults and was probably never flogged by an adult in anger.” yet not far away the plantation owners of Portuguese Para where in dire need of slaves. So what they would do is head out to the back country in search of “precious drugs of the backland”. Really they were searching for slaves. Francisca eventually became a slave. She became “ a member of what was perhaps the most despised, dehumanized and vigorous human group that existed.” No one is sure how she eventually died, we do know how that more then half of the population of the colony died form the measles epidemic.
Catarina de Monte Sinaybirth of Catarina de Monte Sinay(1680-1758).Location - Bahia in BrazilGroup – BrazilianFemaleHer occupation was a Nun.As a young women Catarina had two options to marry or enter the convent. She believed “ either case she was not expected to do much more than learn to sew and embroider…and manage a few house hold slaves”. She spent her whole life in the convent and soon became a Nun. She can from a wealthy family and besides being a Nun she loaned money and rented out houses. And as she lie on her death bed she wondered “ Could a nun who had been a businesswoman and moneylender expect to be rewarded with salvation?”.
