From the question “Do you buy music
magazines?” I found that the majority of
people I asked (66%) do not. I think this is
because there isn‟t a specific magazine
they like, therefore my objective is to create
one which people will want to buy.

In this question, 50% of the people I asked
said that they read pop magazines.
Because of this I know that my target
audience is correct as the genre of my
magazine is going to be pop, therefore I
know that people are going to buy it.

29% of the people I asked
agreed that there is a gap
in the market for a new
genre of music magazine.
17% of people said that the
new genre should be chart
music, I originally was going
to focus on pop music;
however only 7% said there
was a gap in the market for
this. Therefore because of
this result I am going to
incorporate chart music
into my magazine as well.
The second largest
percentage (10%) was
dub-step, conclusively I
may include an article
relating to this genre to
widen my audience.

“What do you look for most
when reading a music
magazine?” – 29% of
people want to see pictures
and 25% of people want to
see interviews. I will make
sure that in my music
magazine there is a lot of
images and not too much
writing to make it more
interesting. In addition for
my double page spread I
will do an interview
because that is what my
target audience want to
read. Factual information
and competitions both got
8% percent each, therefore
I will not include these as
they are not popular.

When I asked people how much they
would expect to pay for a music
magazine, 89% of people said £3 - £4
and 11% of people said £5 - £6. In
conclusion I will make the price of my
magazine £3.99 to satisfy my target
audience. Nobody who did my survey
thought that they should pay any more
than £6.
35% of people said they go to
concerts/gigs/etc on the off occasion;
this was the highest percentage. The
second highest was 22% which was once
every few months. It has become
apparent that concerts and gigs are not
that popular therefore I will only put a
small amount on my magazine about
them for the minority that do go often
(11%) so that there is something for
everyone.

60% of the people I asked said that they
spend between £1 and £5 per month on
music and only 3% of people pay £20 or
more. This tells me that people are not
too keen on paying very music for their
music. Therefore I could create vouchers
which come free with the magazine for
music, this would appeal to my target
audience because then they wouldn‟t
have to spend so much.
I asked the question “how often do you
listen to music?” – 92% said everyday
and 8% said a few times a week. There
were other options such as „rarely‟ and
„never‟ however no one chose them. This
is a great result because I know that my
target audience are very interested in
music.

Therefore I will get my

branded clothing to
appeal to my target

have a cover-line which
is about new apple
products. Another two
popular brands with 16%
percent each were H&M

incorporate this in my
magazine by getting my
models to wear this
brand to represent my

article on “Youtubers” who
are not yet famous.
Google was also quite
popular (19%) which shows
my readers are inquisitive
so I do not want to make
my magazine too straight
forward as they might get
bored.
