  Question 1 –Which gender are you? • We asked a total of 50 participants, 25 of which were male and 25 were female in order to gain a gender balanced response as we want our production to appeal to both sexes.

  Question 2 –Which is your favourite film genre? Film Genre Horror Comedy Thriller Sci-fi Drama Action Romance Musical As shown by the pie chart, horror was the most popular film genre with 15 votes, followed by thriller with 12 votes. Where as sci-fi was the most unpopular with only 2 votes. Reflecting on this we have decided to create the opening of a horror thriller as they were the most popular with our audience.

  Question 3 –Which is your favourite sub-genre of the thriller category? 14 12 10 8 6 4 2 0 Sub-Genre Sub-Genre As shown in the bar chart, our questionnaire proved that haunted and horror are the audiences favourite sub-genre of the thriller category. Therefore we are going to ensure that these feature in our production. On the contrary the sub-genre on ‘murder’ only received 4 votes and wasn't very popular with our audience so we have taken this into consideration and will not have this in our opening.

  Question 4 -In a thriller film, what character dynamics do you like to see? Results show that a ‘victim’ and a ‘psychopath’ character were the most popular.

  Question 5 –what qualities make a good horror thriller film? • We made this an open question in order to give our audience a chance to express their views in their own words so we could gain a more personal response from our audience. We gained a range of results from this question however the most popular and reoccurring results were:  A catching story line  ‘Based on a true story’  A twist in the story line  Not too far-fetched or unrealistic  Fast paced and exciting  A build up of tension to the climax As these were the most popular features from our audience we are going to ensure that our opening contains these.

  Question 6 -Whichof the following themes would you find most interesting? 25 20 15 10 5 0 Theme Theme We asked this question to our audience in order to gain an understanding of which theme would be the most suitable for our whole production. As the bar chart shows ‘haunted’ was the most popular. Because of this we have decided to make this the theme of our production.

  From completing thissurvey it has enabled us to consider and understand what is most popular with the audience in order for us to create a production that will be successful. When creating our opening we will take all parts of this questionnaire into consideration to make sure our opening is compatible with our target audience.
