SYNOPSIS
SEMINAR
“Effect of Nitrogen and Potassium on
growth and yield of Potato”
Introduction
• Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) belongs to family Solanaceae, is the
most important crop among the vegetables.
• It is a rich source of carbohydrates (22.6g/100g), starch
(16.3g/100g) and proteins (1.6g/100g). It’s also contains good
amount of essential amino acids like leucine, tryptophan and
isoleucine (Khurana and Naik, 2003).
• India is the second largest producer of potato next to China.
• The per capita availability of potato in India it is 52.5 kg/year.
• The major potato producing states are Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal,
Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Assam,
Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
• Total Area 2141.72 thousand Hactare and production 51310.01 MT
in India. Total Area 136.29 thousand Hactare and production
3144.64 MT in M.P. (NHB 2018-19).
Objectives of investigation
1. To study the effect of optimum doses of
Nitrogen and Potassium application on growth and
yield of Potato.
2. To find out the most suitable combination of
Nitrogen and Potassium application for
enhancement of growth and yield parameter of
potato .
3. Economic analysis of different treatments.
