Personal Statement:
I have always had a passion for the media industry and everything that it has to offer. After
gaining 10 qualifications at GCSE level, I began my B-tec media course, which specialises in
film and television. Since the start I have been increasingly driven to work towards a media
degree as well as gain a career in the industry. I have many relevant skills that are key to
working in the television and film industry; these include having the ability to work with other
people. I am a good team player who has exceptional communication skills. I am always
more than happy to accomplish a task at hand and I am driven to strive and do well in any
work that I am assigned to undertake. As a determined individual, I have a keen eye for
detail and creativity. Moreover, I have good patience skills and am willing to wait and
continually work until a job is completed to the best of my ability.

For many years, I have been part of a prestigious youth group, which continually motivates,
inspires and educates me to be a good leader, who can make a difference in the community.
Over the last 4 years of this incredible programme, I have earned 4 graduation awards after
each year of completion for voluntary work I have done, as well as a Jack Petchey Award,
for excellence in the community. Not only has this given me the ability to work well as part of
a team, it has also given me the confidence to be a successful leader. As a result of this
programme, I have been allocated the following roles:
● Youth leader at half term schemes
● Senior activity worker during summer schemes#
➔ Entailed - Writing, planning and running sessions for children aged 4-11
Skills:

Media Production
2016-2018 I began my media journey in September
2016. My current grade is a Distinction,
Distinction - the equivalent to 2 A’s at A level
standard - and my work enabling me to get
those grades can be found of my blog
(milliesmedia.wordpress.com) or on
YouTube. I am predicted to get Distinction *,
Distinction * by the end of my course - the
equivalent to 2 A*’s at A level standard.
During my first year, I was allocated the role
of being a media prefect, this entitled me to
promote the media department, create
display boards and use my free periods to
help organise and design the media
classroom.
Work Experience Summer
2017
I was fortunate enough to be given some
work experience over the summer holidays
whilst in South Africa. This included helping
an experienced camera operator film a
promotion video of teenagers volunteering
with disadvantaged children in soweto. I both
filmed independently, as well as with others
who were part of my youth group.
University 2018 - 2021 I hope to study Film and Television at an
undergraduate level at university. My aim is
to gain a qualification in Media, at a high 2:1
level or a First. I have not yet chosen the
university that I wish to study at, but my 2
reserves are the ‘University of Westminster’
and ‘King's College London’.
Career 2021 After gaining my undergraduate qualification,
I hope to gain a long term career in the
industry. As of yet, I do not mind what it
would be that I specialise in, but I know that I
am particularly interested in the production
side of Film and Television, as well as the
editing side it.
If I do not find work soon after my
qualification results, or I am keen to continue
my student journey, I may complete a
masters degree in Film and Television, or
begin to specialise in the field of work I am
keen to work in.
If that does become the route I choose to go
down, following my postgraduate
qualification, I will then consequently find a
job in the media industry.
