PDHPE RATIONALE*PDHPE  stands for Physical Development, Health, and Physical Education. It is one of the six key learning areas covered in the  K-6 syllabus.* In order for a healthy lifestyle to occur it is essential that an individual learns the importance of healthy eating.  Through healthy eating it will enhance an individuals wellbeing and improve their quality of life.*When individuals  are well-informed  about health issues they are able to make better decisions  and are more likely to experience positive relationships. * PDHPE programs are important in the development of students knowledge, understanding and practical skills that ultimately lead to a better health.*Students learning is enhanced  by an understanding  that health is the responsibility of all parts of society. However, an individuals healthy lifestyle may be affected by the social and cultural con text in which they live.

Students are encouraged to understand how decisions are made and priorities established. GAMES AND SPORT PROMOTE VITAL SKILLS SUCH AS;Communication: students learn how to express their needs, wants, and feelings . They learn about negotiating and conflict resolution skill through teamwork.Decision making: Adopting safe practices and making collective decisions for the common good.Interacting: By interacting with other peers students learn how to maintain friendships, how to work cooperatively with each other, learn about responsibilities and respect for other students.
Problem solving: students learn how to gather information, questions and research, resolve problem and select appropriate solution. This is vital for their growth and development.Moving: PDHPE lets you be active and get involved.  Through participating in a range of fun games it helps  a students fundamental movement skills such as throwing and catching and hand eye coordination skills. Developmental skills: PDHPE is not just sport it also teachers safe learning practices. Such as  never go with a stranger.
