Here is a test photo-shoot of characters in which will
feature in our movie trailer. By completing a test
photo-shoot of characters we then have a clear vision
in the type of shots we wish to include in our
magazine front cover and film poster. We done this
photo-shoot in sixth form featuring Lydia Hughes
(Sarah) and Ella Duncan (Jessica) The shots range
from close ups to medium close ups never the less all
the images focus on the emotions of the characters so
we felt that these types of the shots suited best as the
target audience are able to see the characters facial
expressions and body language clearly creating in
some aspect a personal relationship between the
target audience and characters.
These are test shot images of Lydia featuring as the
character Michael (the antagonist) and Ella featuring
as Jess (Chloe’s best friend)
The image denotes an over the shoulder shot with Lydia’s (Michael) hands placed
up against the window this connotes that the character Michael is trying to break
free from the events that has just occurred as well as this she feels isolated. This
image is effective as it creates an enigma for the target audience such as “Why
does Michael feel isolated?” “What events have occurred” in which the answers will
only be revealed when going to watch the film encouraging the target audience to
go and see the film.
This image denotes an over the shoulder shot of Michael, however the image is
taken of a reflection in a mirror. This connotes that Michael is hiding his real identity
which is emphasised through his costume of a scarf covering the majority of his
face and a hoodie. It is worth noting, that our real images will denote a male figure
(Michael) wearing a hoodie.
These denotes a blurred mid shot of Michael which connotes that Michael’s life is
all a blur and the events that occur in the film he feels peer pressured to participate
in. The shot looks like there is two people which connotes that there is two different
identities being shown. One identity being Ricky’s cousin and the other identity
being the antagonist character Michael.
This image denotes a close up of Lydia (Michael), the audience are able to identify
the model’s eyes clearly however the rest of the model’s face is covered. This
connotes yet again that the character’s trying to hide their identity and is therefore
involved in the disruption stage of the film creating an enigma for the audience. The
audience are unable to identify with the character causing further discomfort for
viewers.
The image on the left denotes a mid shot of a teenaged girl (Jessica) whom
looks innocent to viewers which conveys her innocence in regards to the
events in which are going to occur in the film. Yet the audience will only be
able to find out about these events once watching the audience creating
suspicion for them.
The image on the right denotes a close up of Jessica yet the image is taken
at a different angle. The image denotes Jessica holding her index finger to her
mouth which is a symbol of silence. This connotes that she is hiding
something and a potential secret that she does not want other people to find
out about.
