  Amos 1:1 The wordsof Amos, one of the shepherds of Tekoa—the vision he saw concerning Israel two years before the earthquake, when Uzziah was king of Judah and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was king of Israel.

  Tekoa  Tekoa wasthe native place of Prophet Amos.  Tekoa is a village 12 miles approx 16 km south from Jerusalem.  Even today Tekoa Exist in Israel south of Jerusalem.

What's even more interesting is that there is a street named after the prophet Amos called “AMOS STREET” This is proof that there really lived a prophet called Amos in Israel and that the Bible is True.

  Interesting Facts  Theprophet Jeremiah speaks a prophetic verse: (Jeremiah 6:1-3)  In NIV Jeremiah Chapter 6 verse 1-3 are put in quotes.  "Flee for safety, people of Benjamin! Flee from Jerusalem! Sound the trumpet in Tekoa! Raise the signal over Beth Hakkerem! For disaster looms out of the north, even terrible destruction. I will destroy Daughter Zion, so beautiful and delicate. Shepherds with their flocks will come against her; they will pitch their tents around her, each tending his own portion.“  It is interesting to note>

  Interesting Facts From thisverse we can see a picture of the Prophet Amos. Amos was a Shepherd from Tekoa who sounded the Prophetic Trumpet about the coming destruction against the northern Kingdom.

  Amos 1:2 He said: “TheLord roars from Zion and thunders from Jerusalem; the pastures of the shepherds dry up, and the top of Carmel withers.”

  What are theFour Sins of Damascus?  Damascus is the capital city of Syria.  Hazael is king of Syria. (2Kings 13:3)  The sins of Damascus are the wickedness that king Hazael did against Israel (2 Kings 8:12) 1. Set fire to their fortified places. 2. Kill their young men with the sword. 3. Dash their little children to the ground. 4. Rip open their pregnant women.
