- 16. THE METHOD: HCDCANVASSES B.VASTBINDER & J. SPOELSTRA (AMIADESIGNER) The Canvasses are a process tool that guides the individual user/ team of users through the Human Centered Design process. The canvasses facilitate ‘design thinking’ behavior like divergent and convergent steps, iteration, validation etc. The Canvasses where developed with the idea to make the HCD process available to more users (both innovation process facilitators and problem owners) and democratize the design process. The use of the canvasses and canvasses themselves can be adapted to your specific needs. You could for example use them individually, change the sequence (CHD instead of HCD), decide on your own planning or incorporate tools to help you take certain steps. Some of these tools could for example be found in IDEO.org’s HCD Toolkit.
