- 3. Joy defined • Joy (Gk. Chairo) is a feeling of inner gladness, delight or rejoicing. Joy in the NT is virtually always used to signify a feeling of "happiness" that is based on spiritual realities (and independent of what “happens"). • Joy is an inner gladness; a deep seated pleasure. It is a depth of assurance and confidence because of God’s promises and it ignites a cheerful heart. It is a cheerful heart that leads to cheerful behavior. (Ref. 1 Cor. 10:13) • Joy is not an experience that comes from favorable circumstances but is God’s gift to His children.

- 6. The Right hand of GOD ? • The right hand of God In ancient times, a person with high or highest rank stood to the king's right side. Even today, a person may be called someone's "right hand man" or "wingman" when he or she serves as the closest person to another leader. • An example of this can be found in Genesis 48:13- 14 where Jacob blessed the child who would receive a greater blessing with his right hand. The right hand of God likewise relates to this concept of someone being right next to God, acknowledging both authority and closeness to Him.

The Joy set before Jesus • Hebrews 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; • Hebrews 8:1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

The Joy set before Jesus •Hebrews 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; •Hebrews 12:2 Looking not Jesus the, Author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of God.

The Joy set before Jesus • Acts 7:55-56 But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and rthe Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” • Romans 8:34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

The Joy set before Jesus • Ephesians 1:20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, • Colossians 3:1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
- 11. Remember James & John? •Mark 10:35-45 •Mark 10:37 They said to Him, “Grant that we may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory.”

Summary • JOY—Comes only from being in the body of Christ where all spiritual blessing are! • JOY — Is not based on current circumstances, because the child of God is always looking for a city made without hands and is constantly reminded of the promises of God. (2 Corinthians 5:1; Hebrews 11:10) • We must have the mind of Christ if we are to enter into the halls of heaven! • Philippians 2:5 Let this mind (attitude) be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
