- 1. THE POWER OF “NO” Genesis 39:6-12
- 2. GENESIS 39 6 Thus he left all that he had in Joseph's hand, and he did not know what he had except for the bread which he ate. Now Joseph was handsome in form and appearance. 7 And it came to pass after these things that his master's wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, "Lie with me." 8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. 9 "There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"

GENESIS 39 10 So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her. 11 But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, 12 that she caught him by his garment, saying, "Lie with me." But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.
- 4. THE FACT JOSEPH WAS HANDSOME AND WELL BUILT FOR THE GLORY OF GOD “Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.”
- 5. THE FACT THE WIFE OF HIS MASTER ASKED HIM TO SIN WITH HER. SHE WANTED TO EXPLOIT WHAT WAS GIVEN HIM FOR THE GLORY OF GOD “Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.”
- 6. THE FACT JOSEPH SAID NO! “Joseph was handsome in form and appearance.”
- 7. THE FACT SHE INSISTED DAY BY DAY BUT JOSEPH CONTINUED TO SAY NO! NO!! NO!!! 10 So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her.
- 8. THE FACT SHE INSISTED IN HER DESIRE TO SIN WITH HIM BUT HE INSISTED IN HIS COMMITMENT NOT TO SIN. 10 So it was, as she spoke to Joseph day by day, that he did not heed her, to lie with her or to be with her.
- 9. JOSEPH FEARED GOD THE FEAR OF GOD GIVES THE POWER TO SAY NO! “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"
- 10. JOSEPH WAS COMMITED TO KEEP THE TRUST OF HIS MASTER COMMITMENT TO KEEP THE TRUST GIVES THE POWER TO SAY NO! "Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand.”
- 11. HATRED OF WICKED THINGS JOSEPH REFUSED TO DO WICKED THINGS HATRED OF WICKED THINGS GIVES THE POWER TO SAY NO! 9 "There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"
- 12. THREE CRITICAL POINTS THE FEAR OF GOD THE COMMITMENT TO KEEP THE TRUST THE HATRED OF WICKED THINGS 9 "There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"
- 13. THE FEAR OF GOD IF YOU FEAR GOD, YOU WILL KNOW WHEN TO SAY NO Proverb 9:10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
- 14. KEEPING THE TRUST GOD HAS IN YOU GOD TRUSTS YOU: HE HAS PLACED YOU WHERE YOU ARE HE HAS GIVEN YOU WHAT YOU HAVE KEEP THE TRUST AND SAY NO TO SINFUL OPPORTUNITIES.
- 15. KEEPING THE TRUST GOD HAS IN YOU Isaiah 43:21 “This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise.”
- 16. HATRED OF WICKED THINGS REVELATION 22:11 "He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still."
- 17. HATRED OF WICKED THINGS 2 Timothy 2:19 “Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity."
- 18. HATRED OF WICKED THINGS A NO!!! TO EVERY SIN THAT WILL MAKE GOD PROUD OF YOU
- 19. GOD’S TESTIMONY JOB 2:3 “And the Lord said to the Satan, Have you taken note of my servant Job, for there is no one like him on the earth, a man without sin and upright, fearing God and keeping himself far from evil? and he still keeps his righteousness, though you have been moving me to send destruction on him without cause.”

- 21. GOD KNOWS GOD KNOWS ALL THE TIMES THAT YOU HAVE COMPROMISED. HE REMEMBERS AT THE TIME OF BLESSING

FOOLISH REUBEN GENESIS 49 3 Reuben, you are my first-born, my might, and the first fruits of my strength, pre-eminent in pride and pre-eminent in power. 4 Unstable as water, you shall not have pre-eminence because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it-- you went up to my couch!
- 23. UNSTABLE AS WATER TAKES ALL THE SHAPES OF LIFE. CANNOT SAY NO!
- 24. UNSTABLE AS WATER ARE YOU UNSTABLE AS WATER? YOU ACCEPT EVERYTHING.
- 25. REUBEN LOST HIS BLESSINGS 4 Unstable as water, you shall not have pre-eminence because you went up to your father's bed; then you defiled it--you went up to my couch!
- 26. JOSEPH WAS BLESSED 22 Joseph is a fruitful bough, a fruitful bough by a spring; his branches run over the wall. 23 The archers fiercely attacked him, shot at him, and harassed him sorely; 24 yet his bow remained unmoved, his arms were made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob (by the name of the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel), 25 by the God of your father who will help you, by God Almighty who will bless you with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that couches beneath, blessings of the breasts and of the womb. 26 The blessings of your father are mighty beyond the blessings of the eternal mountains, the bounties of the everlasting hills; may they be on the head of Joseph, and on the brow of him who was separate from his brothers.
