Theory- Audience
Your Name
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience- I think the primary
audience for this product would be male and female
children aged 0-14 because this is a movie that is very family
friendly and yes it has fighting in it but no characters actually
die and the violence is kept to a minimum. Another reason
why I think this is because children already have
products/toys that are similar this makes it so that they are
even more interested in the product and means they are
basically pre hooked.
• Secondary Audience-I think the secondary
audience for this product would be parents aged 24-44
because this product will be mostly advertised on types of
media that their children (aged 0-14) will use. This will result
in their children asking them to watch/get the product
meaning they will have to see what it is and if they want
their child to see it.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience-I think the primary audience
for this product would be teenage girls (aged 15-24) and female
adults (aged 25-44) because this looks like a comedy and a film
that you would watch with your friends rather then your child
who is below the age of 14 or parent who is above the age of 64.
• Secondary Audience-I would say the
secondary audience for this product is middle aged females
because there is a balance of comedy and serious meaning it can
range from making you laugh to being tense. However I also
think that the secondary audience could be targeted towards
everyone over the age of 15 because it has a range of themes.
For example it’s a comedy but is also a drama which means it
could possibly. This product could also appeal to males who want
to take say there girlfriend out to watch a film that they would
like no matter if they like it or not.
Audience Profile
• Primary Audience-I think the primary audience
for this product is male teenagers aged 15-24 because this has
more action and violence involved then most films. Also in their
childhood they might have had a product/toy of the superhero in
the film. This could result in them already knowing they are going
to like the product because they have/had something similar and
pre hooking them to buy the product.
• Secondary Audience-I would say the
secondary audience for this product would be female teenagers
aged 15-24 and maybe adults aged 25-44 because the theme of
the product is superhero's this makes the target audience much
bigger because adults might have been interested in the
superhero as a child and in superhero movies there is often a
balance of romance, comedy, action and thriller.
Hypodermic Needle
• Definition-A hypodermic needle is where the audience believes what they are
being told by an advertisement immediately and don’t question what the advertisement has
told them.
• Example-For example because of this in 1938 in the united states there was wide
spread panic because of a peace of media that was put in the radio about a cartoon alien
invasion. People thought that this was real because of the fact that the radio at this point was
used just for news and informing people of important things that were occurring and not for
any sort of advertisement or promotion. However today nearly every source of media
advertises some sort of product because media is becoming so popular and important that
companies see it as an opportunity to tell a large amount of people about their product.
Uses and Gratifications Information
• Information- if I need information on a subject
I will mostly use a search engine like google if
any of my family or friends nearby don’t know
the answer. Google will also give you multiple
answers and they will be in larger detail.
Uses and Gratifications Personal
Identity
• I use things such as BBC news to see what events are going on
in society/round the world and how they are going to effect my day to
day life a long with my friends and family's lives. However I use apps such
as messenger and other social media to keep in touch with
family members and friends that are abroad/cross country. This also
allows me to have a large amount of social interaction at a time where I
might not of been able to.
Uses and Gratifications Integration and
Social Interaction
• Integration and Social Interaction-for this I use things like snapchat
and Facebook because these are two of the most popular peace's of social
media. I use them to message friends, share things with friends, meet new
people and in some cases find out more things about the people I already
know.
Uses and Gratifications Entertainment
• Entertainment-I use things such as YouTube and twitch to entertain myself
because with YouTube there is a range of things to watch in different styles
a long with having the choice to watch a range of people who all have
different personality's, ways of making videos and entertaining you in
general. Where as wit Twitch you can watch people do things live and
interact with them at the same time.
Consumer Generated Content
• Example-A app and website where you can watch people play games live or you can record yourself
playing games live and let other people watch. This is known as Twitch
• What are the advantages to media producers?-They get to gain profits for less work. For example
on twitch the person who is making the live video needs to get everything he/she needs to do it
with her own money instead of the company (e.g. Twitch) paying for it. The person who is making
these videos can get money from the people that are watching. For example if someone subscribes
then that person will get £4:00 a month from that person however some of this money goes to the
company twitch so that they can still use twitches website to make videos and If this person
becomes popular then twitch will offer them a job to do what they are already doing but only If
they allow ads to be put in the video. This increases the amount of money twitch makes and the
amount that the person recording makes.
• Why would the audience generate content?-The audience will generate content because they
might find it interesting and want to maybe make a job out of something they like or because
they have seen many other people successfully do it. For example twitch lets you make live videos
for free at first but once you’ve been doing it for a certain amount of time they make you pay. At
this point the audience who is making the content can choose to stop or to carry on doing it but
now paying to do it instead of it being free.
