Things I have learnt about
technologies from the process of
constructing this product
Through tutorials
• I have used YouTube tutorials to help me learn how to do
lots of the things it took to create my magazine for
example;
• I learnt how to use a lot of the features of the camera,
such as how to make sure i had the correct shutter speed
etc
• I also used tutorials to learn how to use many of the
features on Photoshop, such as how to move the layers
to move text an images in front of behind one another as
well as how to use a variety of tools to cut around
pictures and also how to change the contrast of light in
the picture to make it stand out more from the
background.
Existing media
• The access to existing media has allowed me
to look at other magazines as see what the
codes and conventions are and then work out
which ones work and which ones don't and
then look at which ones I can include and how
to do so. I can also look at what works well
together and what doesn't so I can try to
incorporate the correct ones in the correct
way to make m magazine as appealing to my
target audience as I can
Camera
• As well as looking at tutorials on how to use the
camera i also spent some time changing things on
the camera and working out what button dose
what and where the shutter speed is located and
how to work out whether I need to use the flash.
I took the camera to the places I was taking my
pictures to see how the lighting worked and if i
needed to take more lights or turn lights down as
my models said when I use the flash it hurt their
eyes and also when i looked at the pictured i saw
the had bad red eye so i changed the camera
settings until the flash was no longer needed.
Computer editing programmes
• I used Photoshop to edit all my pictures and to
made my final product, I spent time before I
had even taken my pictures looking at
Photoshop as working out how to change
contrasts and colours of the pictures and texts
on my magazine. I also worked out how to
change the size and fonts on the text so I
could match it closely to blender which is the
magazine I based mine on.
Communicating via technology
• During the planning process I used face book
to communicate with my focus group which
has really helped me work out all the little
tweaks that needed doing on my magazine, it
has also meant my focus group are more
willing to help as they are not being badgered
face to face they are simply able to reply in
there own time and i have been able to send
them all the updated versions of my
magazine.
