Für die meisten Sprachen hat sich in den letzten Jahren und Jahrzehnten ein Tool als Build-System etabliert. Maven für Java, Make für Linux, SBT für Scala usw. und so fort. Doch was ist mit Web-Anwendungen die z.B. auf AngularJS basieren, bei denen die gesamte UI im Browser läuft, die immer komplexer werden, die immer mehr Code enthalten und aus immer mehr einzelnen Dateien bestehen. Wer oder besser gesagt womit baut man hier seine Anwendung? Wer führt Tests aus und wie liefere ich solche eine Anwendung aus? Welche Hürden sind hier zu nehmen?
Mit Grunt hat sich 2013 ein modernes JavaScript Pendant zu Ant etabliert. Doch bei genauerer Betrachtung ist Grunt zwar moderner, aber trotzdem ähnlich abstrakt und low-level wie Ant. Hier kommen Bower und fabs ins Spiel: Bower kümmert sich um Dependencies und fabs konfiguriert Grunt um einen feature-reichen, anpassbaren Build zur Verfügung zu stellen.
In meinem Vortrag beim Karlsruher Entwicklertag 2014 habe ich gezeigt wie mit Grunt, Bower und fabs ein moderner Build und Development-Workflow mit LiveReload, Test-Ausführung, Code-Minimierung und vielem mehr aufgebaut werden kann um auch große Web-Anwendungen mit mehreren Entwicklern schnell voran treiben und zuverlässig ausliefern zu können.

QUnit is a powerful, easy-to-use JavaScript unit testing framework. It's used by the jQuery, jQuery UI, jQuery Mobile projects, also by Drupal, and is capable of testing any generic JavaScript code.

Abstract
With the growing popularity of NodeJS, many companies have embraced its adoption and gone full stack. The next logical move is to have the test framework be on the same stack. Unfortunately, proven ways of implementing a Selenium framework in JavaScript are very limited and very much fragmented.
Airware builds software and hardware for commercial drones; their cloud team ships code to production every week. In this talk, their cloud automation team will talk about: how they have built their Selenium framework with Node.js; the challenges of coming from a synchronous programming language like Java; lessons learned along this journey; and other technologies/tools used to complement testing their cloud and rolling out quality.

In this talk, I will show how easy it is to create a mobile with Ionic by building a simple but feature full app live. We will start at the command line, with one command, Ionic creates the skeleton of our app. Then using a text editor and the Chrome browser we begin building out our app. We can get it all up and running without the need for a mobile device. We will use live reload so we see our changes as soon as we make them. Once we finish, a few commands deploys our app to a simulated device.

Sicherheit von Web-Anwendungen ist ein heißes Thema. Obwohl seit Jahren aktuell, werden die Meldungen über erneute Lücken gefühlt eher schlimmer als besser. Der Trend zu Single-Page-Anwendungen bringt für uns Entwickler eine ganze Reihe neuer Herausforderungen in punkto Sicherheit mit sich, da immer mehr Funktionalität in den Browser verlagert wird und dadurch mehr Code in nicht vertrauenswürdiger Umgebung läuft.
In diesem Talk wir anhand von AngularJS gezeigt auf was man bei SPAs achten muss. Anhand von Code-Beispielen wird natürlich auch gezeigt wie man sich z.B. vor Cross-Site-Scripting, Cross-Site-Request-Forgery und Code-Injection schützt und welche Gefahren sonst noch so lauern.

Tony Lewis, Chief Technology Officer at BrainChip, presents the “State-space Models vs. Transformers for Ultra-low-power Edge AI” tutorial at the May 2025 Embedded Vision Summit.
At the embedded edge, choices of language model architectures have profound implications on the ability to meet demanding performance, latency and energy efficiency requirements. In this presentation, Lewis contrasts state-space models (SSMs) with transformers for use in this constrained regime. While transformers rely on a read-write key-value cache, SSMs can be constructed as read-only architectures, enabling the use of novel memory types and reducing power consumption. Furthermore, SSMs require significantly fewer multiply-accumulate units—drastically reducing compute energy and chip area.
New techniques enable distillation-based migration from transformer models such as Llama to SSMs without major performance loss. In latency-sensitive applications, techniques such as precomputing input sequences allow SSMs to achieve sub-100 ms time-to-first-token, enabling real-time interactivity. Lewis presents a detailed side-by-side comparison of these architectures, outlining their trade-offs and opportunities at the extreme edge.

LSNIF: Locally-Subdivided Neural Intersection FunctionTakahiro Harada Neural representations have shown the potential to accelerate ray casting in a conventional ray-tracing-based rendering pipeline. We introduce a novel approach called Locally-Subdivided Neural Intersection Function (LSNIF) that replaces bottom-level BVHs used as traditional geometric representations with a neural network. Our method introduces a sparse hash grid encoding scheme incorporating geometry voxelization, a scene-agnostic training data collection, and a tailored loss function. It enables the network to output not only visibility but also hit-point information and material indices. LSNIF can be trained offline for a single object, allowing us to use LSNIF as a replacement for its corresponding BVH. With these designs, the network can handle hit-point queries from any arbitrary viewpoint, supporting all types of rays in the rendering pipeline. We demonstrate that LSNIF can render a variety of scenes, including real-world scenes designed for other path tracers, while achieving a memory footprint reduction of up to 106.2x compared to a compressed BVH.

Integration of Utility Data into 3D BIM Models Using a 3D Solids Modeling Wor...Safe Software Jacobs has developed a 3D utility solids modelling workflow to improve the integration of utility data into 3D Building Information Modeling (BIM) environments. This workflow, a collaborative effort between the New Zealand Geospatial Team and the Australian Data Capture Team, employs FME to convert 2D utility data into detailed 3D representations, supporting enhanced spatial analysis and clash detection.
To enable the automation of this process, Jacobs has also developed a survey data standard that standardizes the capture of existing utilities. This standard ensures consistency in data collection, forming the foundation for the subsequent automated validation and modelling steps. The workflow begins with the acquisition of utility survey data, including attributes such as location, depth, diameter, and material of utility assets like pipes and manholes. This data is validated through a custom-built tool that ensures completeness and logical consistency, including checks for proper connectivity between network components. Following validation, the data is processed using an automated modelling tool to generate 3D solids from 2D geometric representations. These solids are then integrated into BIM models to facilitate compatibility with 3D workflows and enable detailed spatial analyses.
The workflow contributes to improved spatial understanding by visualizing the relationships between utilities and other infrastructure elements. The automation of validation and modeling processes ensures consistent and accurate outputs, minimizing errors and increasing workflow efficiency.
This methodology highlights the application of FME in addressing challenges associated with geospatial data transformation and demonstrates its utility in enhancing data integration within BIM frameworks. By enabling accurate 3D representation of utility networks, the workflow supports improved design collaboration and decision-making in complex infrastructure projects
