Types of Islamic Institutions in Malaysia
• Basically there are eleven categories of Islamic
institutions in Malaysia. They are‑
1. Islamic educational institution.
2. Islamic court/ Syariah court
3. Islamic museum
4. Islamic bank
5. Zakat's institution
6. Islamic preaching institution

Information Provided By These Institutions
1. Islamic educational institution in Malaysia.
 They provide information on Islamic knowledge; Fardhu
ain and Fardhu kifayah.
 The examples of knowledge are
 Islamic law,
 Islamic economy,
 Fiqh,
 Islamic belief,
 Islamic international relationship,
 Islamic politics,
 Science of Hadiths,
 Science of Quran,
 Islamic morals (akhlak),
 Tasawuf knowledge etc.

2. Islamic court/Syariah court
 They provide knowledge on Islamic legal
system like
 marriage knowledge,
 Islamic criminal knowledge like
gambling, did not perform Jumaat
prayer (The Muslim) and khalwat.

3. Islamic museum
 The responsibility of Islamic museums is to
preserve Islamic artifacts and manuscripts.
 They provide a lot of Islamic historical
information like the Islamic emergence in Malay
peninsular and the preaching of Islam by the
Arab missionaries.
 They also provide information on Islamic
artifacts and manuscripts for instance prophet
sword, hand written Quran and traditions,
artifacts showing the relationship between
Islamic governments.

4. Islamic banking
 One of the functions of this institution is to
provide knowledge on Islamic banking for
example
 al-wadiah,
 al-mudharabah,
 ar-rahnu,
 al-bai' bithaman ajil,
 al-Ijarah and
 Islamic investment.

5. Zakat's institutions
 They provide knowledge on the concept of zakat in Islam
like:
 Income zakat,
 zakat fitrah,
 trade zakat,
 gold zakat,
 saving zakat,
 livestock zakat and
 Besides that, they also give information on those who
are qualified to receive zakat from this institution and
how zakat is spent, invested and distributed.

6. Islamic preaching institution
 The responsibility of this institutions is to preach
Islamic information and practice to the Muslim
and non Muslim community.
 They provide information regarding the daily
religious practice like fasting, praying, and their
belief as well as their code of conduct.

 These institutions provide information
materials regarding the Islamic teaching
either printed or non-printed.
 They also provide services on borrowing
Islamic materials, inter library loans,
Islamic indexes and databases and etc.

8. Non-governmental Islamic organizations
 Among the role of non-governmental institutions
are to support government policy and to help
the government agencies to spread Islamic
teaching information to the community.
 Mainly, these institutions provide information
based on the nature of their business.
 Besides that, they provide information regarding
the daily religious practice, their belief and their
code of conduct.

 As an Islamic training center, it also helps the
government agencies to spread Islamic
knowledge.
 The role of this institution is to provide formal
training to the users.
 Among the training they provide are marriages
training for the facilitators, leadership trainings
for the officers from the Islamic institution,
pilgrimage trainings for the Muslim preachers
etc.

10.Islamic insurance institution
 These institutions provide information on
insurance for example family insurance,
health insurance, transport insurance and
etc.
 They also provide information on the
claims over insurer, insurance policy and
etc.

11. Islamic Foundation institutions
 These institutions usually established for certain
purpose.
 They run business to achieve the targeted
purpose.
 These institutions provide information based on
the nature of their business.
 Sometimes they also support private
institutions to conduct programs pertaining to
their business financially as well as morally.

Types of Records Created by These Institutions
1-Islamic educational institution in Malaysia
 The main records managed are educational records like
 students' applications,
 examination results,
 payment of fees,
 records of attendance,
 scholarships,
 students activities,
 trainings,
 seminars,
 courses as well as education transcripts.
 The examples of institutions are International Islamic
University (UIA) and state Islamic colleges.

2-Islamic court
The main responsibility of Islamic court is to
implement Islamic Law and preserve justice.
The Islamic court manages Islamic legal records like
Syariah criminal records (red color) and
divorce records (blue color).
The divorce records include Taklik and fasakh
records.
Besides that, it also has polygamy's records
hadhanah records.
The example of Islamic court is state Islamic court.

3-Islamic museum
The responsibility of Islamic museums is to preserve
Islamic artifacts and manuscripts.
The Islamic religious records they preserve are
manuscripts and treaty(agreement) produced
especially by the Islamic government.
They also have a lot of artifacts like the artifacts of
prophet's sword, the emergence of Islam etc.

Among the records managed by this
institution are Islamic transaction records
like:
al-wadiah,
al-bai' bithaman ajil,
al-Ijarah,
al-mudharabah,
