This document summarizes a research study about how users perceive social presence on the bookmarking site Delicious. It examines how factors like subscribing to other users, having mutual subscriptions, returning other users' bookmarks, and annotating bookmarks may relate to each other and influence user behavior. The study found that perceiving social presence through the network correlates with increased tagging, subscriptions and returning of bookmarks. Returning bookmarks in particular was found to be a subtle way to reinforce social presence.
