My Ba: Teaching students Arabic and Arab literature; My Mom: goes to CLiA

Ba: Hollander Hall; Mom: CLiA
Ba: computer; Mom: not do anything (Mom: “I’m still on maternity leave, not
skipping out on work 😂”)
What is it like to be home with a parent right now?
Fun!
What is something that you have done with your parent while you are
home?
Play with Naseem, my baby brother.

Grace Irwin, 6 years old

She works at Williams. But now she works at home in the office
or down in the basement.
It is BORING because she works and doesn't do what I tell her
to. She doesn't even check my work right away. And I can't go
anywhere or do anything.
What is something that you have done with your parent
while you are home?
We rode our bikes and went for walks. We also hiked.

Katy Day Giarolo, 6 years old

She raises money for Williams. She has a lot of meetings.
On campus: she works at a building. It is grey and purple. It has a
ramp and a door. When I go to her office, I like to get some candy.
At home: she works in the basement, but right now she's working from
my room because it's my Papa's turn to have a meeting. He helps keep
children safe and stops people from doing bad things.
It is kind of difficult because I have to look after my baby brother
sometimes.
What is something that you have done with your parent while you
are home?
I learned to ride a two wheeler.

Nina Anderson, 6 years old

She used to work in an office, but I don't remember where it is.
She works from her bedroom now.
It is nice and snuggly.
What is something that you have done with your parent
while you are home?
We went bike riding and scooter riding.

Williams?
Sit on the computer all day. Help people and
talk to people when they are stressed.
Where did they work on campus? Where
do they work now?
In a huge brown building and in an office on
top of a toy and coffee shop. Still at Williams
but at home in the kitchen.
What is it like to be home with a parent
right now?
Crazy...but happy to be home with mom and
not in school.
What is something that you have done
with your parent while you are home?
School work, projects, make play dough, and
an egg hunt.

do they work now?
In the Chemistry building. Now she works in
our office or in our basement, or really
anywhere she can take her laptop.
What is it like to be home with a parent
right now?
It's great, but she works a lot. We still spend
lots of time together. We are homeschooled
now. I miss going to real school.
What is something that you have done
with your parent while you are home?
We watched a video on how to draw Easter
Pugs but instead we drew Easter
Bulldogs. We also watch Lego Masters and
The Masked Singer. We even get to stay up
late. Sometimes.

Where did they work on campus? Where do
they work now?
He worked in Hopkins Hall until 3 weeks ago. Now
he is working from our family room or dining room
table.
What is it like to be home with a parent right
now?
It’s been an interesting experience. I have gotten
to see a glimpse of what it is like in my Dad’s
normal work day. It has also been stressful to be
involved in distance learning for school while also
having to respect parents’ work spaces in the
house.
What is something that you have done with
your parent while you are home?
We’ve done a lot of cooking, hiking, walking with
our dogs and practicing driving around town (I just
got my permit a few weeks ago)

Mears House, now working from home
Luke: It’s reminded me a lot of high school, but now I
feel like I’m a bit more knowledgeable as a person. I
like being able to eat dinner and see my parents all the
time, but I’m definitely excited to get out of the house.
Melissa: I feel lucky to be back at home with my family.
We get to spend much more time together than we
normally would, which is fun (for the most part).
Luke: We have tried new recipes, watched replays of
soccer matches, learned some new musical
instruments. I also like to skateboard around deserted
Spring Street while my parents walk around town.
Melissa: We skateboarded around the empty campus
at sunset!
