UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS(USB)

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is a specification to establish
communication between devices and a host controller (usually
personal computers), developed and invented by Ajay Bhatt while
working for Intel. USB can connect computer peripherals such as
mouse, keyboards, digital cameras, printers, personal media players,
external hard drives.

WIRELESS UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS(WUSB)

Wireless USB mean USB without wires. In short “wireless usb is also a
specification to establish communication between devices and a host
controller (usually personal computers) but without wires, by the use of
  ultra wide band”.
2. WHY WIRELESS USB
 Comparison with wired USB
    1. High performance speed
    2. No hassle of wire
    3. Portable

 Comparison with BLUETOOTH
    1. low performance speed at higher distance
    2. more secure

 Comparison with WI-FI
    1. cost effective.
    2. wire USB signal are more secure than Wi-Fi signals as
WI-FI signal are adversely effect by natural disaster such as
       thunder storm.
3. ULTRA WIDE BAND IN WUSB

Ultra-wideband (UWB, ultra-wide band, ultra band, etc.) is a radio
technology that can be used at very low energy levels for short-
range high-bandwidth communications within the frequency range
of 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz by using a large portion of the radio
spectrum.

UWB CHARACTERISTICS

•Very high bandwidth within shorter range(110 Mbps within
  10 m).
•Low cost
•Passing through building blocks, walls etc

 UWB APPLICATION

Due to the extremely low emission levels UWB systems tend
to be short-range and indoors applications. High data rate
UWB can enable wireless monitors, the efficient transfer of
data from digital camcorders, wireless printing of digital
pictures from a camera without the need for an intervening
personal computer, and the transfer of files among cell
phone handsets and other handheld devices like personal
    digital audio and video player.
4. TOPOLOGY REQUIRED IN WUSB
The Wireless USB Host Can Logically Connect To A Maximum Of
127 Wireless USB Devices. The Host Initiates All The Data
Traffic Among The Devices Connected To It, Allotting Data
Bandwidth To Each Device Connected. With The Use Of Hub We
Can Connect The Devices.
5. HOW WUSB WORK
The fundamental element of the Wireless USB protocol is the
Micro-scheduled Management Command MMCs are used to help
devices discover information about a Wireless USB.
In wired USB, data transmissions were executed using IN and OUT
token packets. Named with respect to the host, an IN is used by
the host to read data from a device while an OUT writes data from
the host to a device. So, a Wireless USB DT CTA is the equivalent of
a USB token IN; a Wireless USB DR CTA is the equivalent of a USB
token OUT.
6. WIRELESS USB INSTALLATION

The installation of wireless USB is very simple. install the driver of
particular USB device in the host USB and than connect the dongle in
the host USB port. we don’t have to install the driver again and again.
when the first time we want to connect the wireless USB to our pc or
any other device than we have to install the driver only once.
7. WIRELESS USB SECURITY
For security two steps are being performed
    1.Data association
    2. Encryption

                         1. Data association
     1. Devices associate wirelessly
     2. User must enter a hex code manually.

                           SESSION KEY
A session key is an encryption and decryption key that is randomly
generated to ensure the security of a communications session
between a user and another computer or between two computers.
Throughout each session, the key is transmitted along with each
message
.

 2. Encryption
During each session devices derive a session key.
Wireless data is encrypted using session key.
8. WIRELESS USB VISION
9. SCENARIO OF WUSB USAGE MODEL
10. WUSB ADVANTAGES

 1. High performance At launch, Wireless USB will provide speeds up to
      480 Mbps
 2. Give a good wireless range
 3. Wireless usb is portable
 4. Simple in installation.
11. WUSB DISADVANTAGES

1. The wireless keyboard and mouse use a USB port and do not
give you anything else. The Bluetooth adapter uses the same
port, but also lets you connect Bluetooth stereo headphones,
     your mobile phone, etc.
2. The range of wireless USB technology comparison to WI-FI is low.
3. External power source or battery required.
4. Cost is higher than wired USB.

14. WUSB FUTURE

Intel and fellow travelers will continue to drive the Wireless USB initiative
into the marketplace as the first USB initiative into the marketplace as the
first commercial application to run on top of the common UWB radio
  platform.
