Work life balance

Creating Work Life Balance
I arise in the morning torn between
the desire to improve the world and a
desire to enjoy the world. This makes
it hard to plan the day.
Men for the sake of getting a living
forget to live
What is work life balance?
 The main principle is equality between work and
private life
 It is a state of equilibrium where a person spend
time equally on career and personal life
 Having flexibility to get things done
 There may be heavy work load days, but you have
time later in the week to enjoy other activities
Lets start with some basic questions
 Do you often take a lunch break which does not even last
for 30 minutes?
 Do you miss out on quality time with your family and
friends bedcause of pressure of work?
 Do you work late hours at office every day and take your
work at home as well?
 Do you think work is having a negative effect on your
personal life?
 DO you often think that you do not get enough time for
yourself?
 Do you feel anxious or upset because of what is happening
at work?
 Do you feel tired or depressed because of work?
 DO you often lose your temper at work?
 If your answer is yes then think about it
seriously because work life balance means
management in every aspect
 Life and work both
Reasons leading to poor work life
balance
 Increased responsibilities at work
 Working longer hours
 Increased responsibilities at home
 Having children

feeling completely exhausted by the time you
get home
 Feeling that you are on the merry go round of
life and just wanting to get off
 Feeling like you are falling behind and never
catching up in the game of life
Is it always a balance
 First thing you need to know is that
 People that have work life balance don’t
always have work life balance. Think of it as a
continuum from a 10 being perfect balance
and to a 1 meaning total chaos
 Where do you fall on that continuum most of
the time? Is it time to change course?
Achieving the balance
 Balance comes from answering a series of
questions about yourself on a regular basis
 Am I clear about my personal professional and
play goals?

myself rather than from someone else?

Editor's Notes

  • #1 Elon Musk still works 100-ish hours a week. What’s more important to you in life — money or freedom? At the age of 12, he wrote a computer game called Blastar, which he sold to a computer magazine for $500. At 33, he predicted that the future of space exploration belonged to private corporations. At 47, he sent a drop-top into space, driven by an interstellar Stig and accompanied by David Bowie music. And, yes, he once smoked pot in front of 38 million pairs of eyeballs. Yes, Elon Musk is a proper legend. He was, in fact, the inspiration for the movie Iron Man, which kick-started the whole Avengers saga. Robert Downey Jr. would often model the legendary founder to perfect his character. Some of Iron Man 2 was even filmed on SpaceX grounds. Elon Musk was 31 when he pocketed $165 million after selling his PayPal ownership to eBay. He has dated and married famous musicians and movie stars. Oh, and he once bought an old James Bond car-submarine prop to try and turn it into a real thing.
  • #2 There comes a point in every entrepreneurs life time where they can slow down on the hours they’re putting in and begin to gain back their free time.  The only way to gain job security is by dedicating the majority of your time each day working for someone else. Starting a business at the same time can be incredibly tough and in many circumstances almost impossible but you’ve got to be willing to give up the good in order to shoot for the great! Free TIme But to begin with, and certainly for a long period of time, they’ll sacrifice their free time to spend more hours working and building something they can truly be proud of. Sleep gets mentioned in almost one third of every blog post to do with success and entrepreneurship, and it’s certainly a subheading I’ve used 3 or 4 times before. Have you noticed? That’s because it maps in to so many different topics covered in the areas of entrepreneurship, self development, health and success. There’s two different aspects of this point that I’d like to talk about. The first is that if you’re struggling to come up with the money needed for your startup, the ‘go to’ source of funds before getting a business loan, would be to sell any possessions that you don’t need.  You’ve got to get up early, work hard and dedicate yourself entirely, so comfort isn’t exactly something you should be expecting. The last sacrifice on this list, is your social life. If entrepreneurs need to work more hours in order to make a name for themselves, then their social life gets withered. You Shouldn’t completely sacrifice your social life. That’s not good for anyone, and there’s absolutely no fun in life if you cut yourself off from everyone else.
  • #33 Do not try to reach an ideal work life balance try to reach a rrealistic one. Some days you might focus more on work while other days on your hobbies or your family. Balance is achieved over time not each day You don’t have to love every aspect of your job but it should be exciting enough to make you watnt to get out of bed every morning If yiou hate what you fo you wont be happty. If you prioritize your health you will miss less work and when youa re there u will be happier and more productive. Unplug-allows us to recover from weeklys tress gives us space for other thoughts and ideas., it is important to take time off physically. A good work life balance requires deliberate action. When planning time eith yoru family create a calendar for dates it will ensure that you sepnd quality time without work lfie conflict. Try to separate your work and personal platforms using different browsers or email addresse Pay attention to when you are the most productive at work and spend time for important work related activiites
