What does a progress check do?
Teachers review
tests/assessments and
classwork in each
subject
This determines a
Current Working At
Grade (CWAG) in
relation to GCSE grades
and Projected Grade
(PG)
The CWAG is compared
to the target grade so
we can see whether
students are:-
- on target
- above target
- below target
Planned Intervention
then takes place
What is different about new GCSEs?
No
coursework
Longer exams
More
challenging
questions
9-1 grading
Mock results……….

On

Just below

Cause for
concern
How can you help them?
A mock exam every
month
Then every fortnight
Then every week
Plan the exam
preparation
Train in the shoes you
are going to run in
Make every workout
count
(try to reduce time
and increase speed).
What about this?
What is it?
This is our recommendation of how to
spend each hour when revising.
Why?
Students can engage in ineffective revision
which can limit their performance in
examinations. Also, we are aware that it
can be challenging to change students’
ingrained study habits. Therefore, we have
designed a simple model to help clarify the
most effective strategies and what these
might look like over a period of an hour. It
is our hope that this will help inform all
students about the most effective
strategies.
