Zentangle initials handout
This document provides instructions for creating a Zentangle design based on your initials to then use to make photograms. It involves drawing your initials in bubble letters on paper with a border and filling the spaces inside and outside the letters with varied Zentangle patterns using only black gel pen. Photograms are then made from the design by placing it on photographic paper in the darkroom to create 2 positive and 2 negative photograms which are then mounted to show radial balance.

- 1. 0182880Design Fundamentals: Zentangle Initials Photogram<br />Utilizing Line and Shape create Rhythm, Movement and Balance in a design based on your initials.<br />Materials Needed: <br />3”x3” white paper<br />Pencil<br />Eraser<br />Black Gel Pen<br />4 pieces of 3”x3” RC VC B&W Photographic Paper<br />Darkroom & Chemicals<br />Procedure:<br />Step 1: View the Zentangle Initials Powerpoint.<br />Step 2: With a pencil make a dot in each of the 4 corners of the white drawing paper. Connect the dots to form a border.<br />Step 3: Lightly draw your 3 initials in bubble letters in pencil, touching at least 3 of the four border edges. <br />Step 4: Fill the spaces with Zentangle Patterns, both inside the initials and outside. Vary line length, width, texture, etc. to create variety. Use only Black Gel. <br />Step 5: Create 4 Photograms of your Zentangle – 2 positives and 2 negatives.<br />Step 6: Mount your photograms to create radial balance.<br />
