VP, AI and Research

Mircea Neagovici-Negoescu

Mircea is the VP of AI and Research and UiPath, where he focuses on adding AI features to the UiPath products. He and his team have been working on computer vision, document understanding including the DocPath models, task mining, autopilot, and more recently agentic automation and computer use. Mircea is passionate about training models, open source, and building new features in small, fast moving teams.

Prior to joining UiPath in 2018, Mircea was a software engineer at Microsoft for 15 years, then transitioned to machine learning. He joined Microsoft Research and worked on an early chatbot product, while going back to school and getting a MS in computer science with a focus on ML at UW.

Outside of work, Mircea enjoys tennis, skiing and downhill biking.

Distinguished AI Scientist

Professor David Barber

An academic, entrepreneur, and acclaimed researcher in applying probabilistic models and reasoning, David Barber serves as a special advisor to all UiPath AI teams. He is also Director of the UCL Centre for Artificial Intelligence, which develops next-generation AI techniques, as well as a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute. He also co-founded communications mining company Re:infer (acquired by UiPath in 2022).

Lucas Maystre

Driving frontier AI research to shape UiPath’s future technologies

Lucas is a Principal Scientist on the Machine Learning team, specializing in reinforcement learning, large language model adaptation, and alignment. His research revolves around designing methods to efficiently gather user feedback and incorporate it into learning systems to improve performance and reliability. Lucas’ work has been published in leading AI and ML conferences, including NeurIPS, ICML, AISTATS, and KDD. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from EPFL in 2018, supported by a Google PhD Fellowship in Machine Learning.

Tomasz Religa

Leading work on agentic automation

Tomasz is a Director of Applied Science at UiPath, where he leads work on agentic automation - turning large language models into reliable, evaluable, and controllable software operators across the UiPath platform. Prior to UiPath, Tomasz led machine learning teams at Microsoft to bring AI into Office products and held applied science roles at Amazon. He has also taught machine learning at the University of Washington.

Dragos Bobolea

Start-up minded, bridging science and engineering

Dragos works on the machine learning and scientific foundations of UiPath’s agents platform, with a focus on evaluation, reliability, and explainability. A founding member of the UiPath Computer Vision team, he grew into leadership over his years at the company. Startup-minded and with a strong technical focus, Dragos bridges science and engineering. Outside work, he enjoys downhill biking, bouldering, and mountaineering — and occasionally outsourcing his bio writing to ChatGPT.

Senior Director, Applied Sciences

Stefan Adam

Stefan joined UiPath in 2016 and is now the Senior Director of Applied Science. He leads the computer-use AI initiative. His expertise includes computer vision and intelligent agents, with a particular focus on building computer-use agents that can learn to operate software like a human. Previously, he worked as a Software Engineer at IBM. He holds an MS in Machine Learning and Distributed Computing from the University Politehnica of Bucharest.
