We believe that every voice matters and should be heard. That’s why safe whistleblowing frameworks and practices are intertwined in our value system. To commemorate Global Ethics Day earlier this week, we reaffirm our commitment to building mechanisms that support safe reporting, encourage accountability and celebrate the courage to speak up. We see the power of whistleblowing and champion ethical leadership that breaks down systemic challenges and shapes a culture of trust. #GlobalEthicsDay #YourStoryMatters

2025 marks the 100th anniversary of the development of Pinotage, South Africa’s very own grape variety. This October, we are proud to have partnered with the Pinotage Association, as we have over the past 30 years, to announce the winners of the 2025 Absa Top 10 Pinotage Competition. The annual competition aims to identify ten Pinotage wines that serve as a benchmark for distinctive South African Pinotage. During the celebration held at the Meerendal Wine Estate in Cape Town, we honoured the winemakers, families and communities that continue to shape South Africa’s wine industry, and highlighted the innovation driving the industry forward. Here’s to the next 100 years of growth. #AbsaPinotage100 #YourStoryMatters #WeSeeYourStory

At Absa, we believe that Your Story Matters - because stories grounded in courage and integrity safeguard democracy and strengthen trust. We are proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of the 2025 South African National Editors’ Forum (SANEF) Fundraiser Gala Dinner, taking place on 17 October 2025 at The Houghton Hotel, Johannesburg. This event is held in reflection of Black Wednesday, honouring the resilience of South Africa’s media and the vital role of the fourth estate in protecting truth, accountability, and transparency. Now in our ninth year of association, this is more than sponsorship - it’s a shared commitment to defending media freedom and upholding the principles that keep democracy strong. We honour the storytellers brave enough to ask why - those whose courage, integrity, and impact continue to give voice to truth and illuminate our nation’s path forward. Together with SANEF, we reaffirm that freedom of expression and the resilience of our media are essential to building an informed and inclusive future. #WeSeeYourStory because #YourStoryMatters Read more: https://brnw.ch/21wWG2n #Saneffundraiserdinner2025

Cheryl Buss, CEO of Absa International, represented Absa Group at the IMF Annual Meetings during a roundtable facilitated by Dr. Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and Bayer CEO Bill Anderson. The discussion focused on the critical role of agricultural ecosystems in driving inclusive growth across Africa. Cheryl highlighted the importance of supporting agriculture through the full cycle, from production to market access, and the need for sustained investment to unlock its potential. Driving financial inclusion in agriculture means ensuring that smallholder farmers, agri-SMEs, and cooperatives have access to tailored financial products, digital tools, and investment capital. By mobilising both public and private sector resources, we can build sustainable agri-value chains that contribute to food security, job creation, and inclusive economic growth across the continent. #IMF2025 #WeSeeYourStory #YourStoryMatters

Africa’s agricultural sector can fulfil its vast potential by drawing on best practices from across the continent. These pockets of progress can help inspire producers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to substantially boost agricultural production, making countries more food secure and prosperous. Kenya’s tea sector, for example, has clearly demonstrated the transformative potential of cooperatives. Other East African countries have worked with large multinationals to develop critical port infrastructure, such as cold storage facilities. Some West African nations have used a similar model to become key global suppliers of cashew nuts, enabled by public-private partnerships and free-market principles. In this video, Abrie Rautenbach, Absa CIB’s Managing Executive: Sector Head Agriculture, unpacks how the continent can create a thriving agricultural industry, African governments’ critical role in infrastructure investment and policy certainty, and the importance of the B20 South Africa taskforce to advance best practices. At the sidelines of the IMF /World Bank Group Fall Meetings, Absa Group, in partnership with the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), proudly hosted the Absa Africa Dialogue – Lobito Corridor Roundtable. At the heart of this dialogue was the Lobito Corridor—a transformative 1,300 km rail and infrastructure project connecting Angola’s port of Lobito to the mineral-rich regions of the DRC and Zambia. With over $10bn in multilateral and private investment, the Corridor is set to accelerate regional integration, trade, and industrialisation, while diversifying global supply chains for cobalt and copper. As a pan-African financial institution, Absa is committed to facilitating strategic investment that unlocks Africa’s potential. The Lobito Corridor is a powerful example of how infrastructure can drive inclusive growth, cross-border collaboration, and long-term prosperity. Absa is proud to help lead the way in Pan-African investment during a session opened by our Group Chief Executive Officer, Kenny Fihla. #IMF2025 #WeSeeYourStory #YouStoryMatters Cheryl Buss International Monetary Fund

In September, Absa was honoured to participate in the CILTSA Women Empowerment Conference, a vital forum for advancing gender inclusion in transport and logistics. Despite women making up a significant portion of the supply chain workforce, they remain underrepresented in leadership. This gap limits not only career growth, but also the sector’s innovation and resilience. Our speaker, Maserati Ramokadi, Transport and Logistics Analyst at Absa Group, shared insights amongst key industry role-players on how we can develop a more inclusive, dynamic and sustainable industry. Events like this remind us that closing the leadership gap is not just a matter of equity – it’s critical to the future of transport and logistics in South Africa. #YourStoryMatters Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (SA) Nomsa Mokoena, Ignatia Sekonyela, Maphefo Anno-Frempong, Garry Marshall
