Our WConnect business has evolved immeasurably since its inception more than a decade ago. It began as an in-store only hub that sold cell phones, and today, it is a registered trademark housing the entire Woolworths technology, gaming and handset business. Thanks for sharing, MyBroadband. Each year, we host our Good Business Journey Week at HQ to bring our sustainability initiatives to life. It's an opportunity for our people to engage directly with key sustainability topics, see how it affects and improves our products, and learn from thought leaders in the industry. Esteemed Agri-Economist, Wandile Sihlobo, was back by popular demand with a keynote address and panel discussion about South Africa's agriculture. Interesting questions were raised around the effects of climate change on agriculture and the policy decisions affecting retailers. We were also joined by Dr Sizwe Mpofu-Walsh, who shared reflections on the role South African corporates play in furthering social justice, providing insights into how our past, present and future look through, to borrow his language, a "transfigurative" lens. The topic on the final day was "The Real Cost of Fast Fashion", with Herman Pillay. It was a sobering talk that highlighted the challenges being faced by the apparel industry - particularly from a labour perspective - and how much work still needs to be done. Beyond panel discussions, GBJ Week is also home to an interactive expo where Woolies staff could learn to start a garden, get advice on sustainable finance, upcycle old denim, taste test our best fresh produce, meet our Living Soil community learning farmers, and so much more. GBJ Week 2025 has been a roaring success, we're already looking forward to next year! 💚

This World Tuna Day, we’d like to reaffirm our commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainability 💚 At Woolworths, we know how important it is to source tuna in a way that respects our oceans and marine life. That's why we're proud to be the only South African retailer to only sell pole and line caught canned tuna. This centuries-old method, using one pole, line, and hook per fish, minimises bycatch of other species such as dolphins, turtles, and sharks contributes to healthy ocean ecosystems and creates jobs to empower coastal communities. But that’s not all – our tuna is chilled on ice immediately after capture for ultimate freshness! It’s made from flaked whole loins, giving it that oh-so-succulent texture, and comes in a flavourful brine or vegetable oil for an irresistible taste.
