South African lender Capitec Bank has announced a strong set of results for the first half of its financial year, reporting a 26% rise in profit. Headline earnings per share, a key profitability measure in South Africa, climbed to 8 billion rand ($463.9 million) for the six months ending August 31, up from 6.4 billion rand in the same period a year earlier. The bank declared an interim dividend of 26.20 rand per share, representing a 26% increase from the prior year’s payout of 20.85 rand per share. The results underscore Capitec’s ability to sustain growth despite a challenging macroeconomic environment, reflecting continued strength in its retail banking operations and disciplined cost management.
