Last week, I had the privilege of attending and contributing to the HR Strategy Conference hosted by Progressive Institute. Partnering with the brilliant Mr. Resego Morakanyane from the University of Botswana, we co-facilitated a Masterclass on AI in the Workplace—a topic that initially sparked some doubts, but ultimately left me inspired and energized. As I prepared for the session, I began reflecting on the tools we use at Bank Gaborone to enhance the Employee Experience. While we’re still on the journey, I realized we’ve already taken meaningful steps: Microsoft Copilot – My go-to for drafting letters, designing agendas, and getting quick clarity on complex topics. It’s more than a chatbot—it’s a productivity partner. Gamma AI – A game-changer for turning long policies and Excel data into engaging, simplified presentations. It’s my favorite for a reason! HRHelper – Our internally developed chatbot that provides real-time responses to employee queries by integrating data from multiple platforms. A proud collaboration between HR and IT! And then there’s the broader AI ecosystem: Python, Anaconda, Jupiter Notebooks, Canva, Otter AI, Gemini—each offering unique ways to drive efficiency and innovation. The key takeaway? AI is not about replacing people—it’s about empowering them. The ROI lies in the value these tools bring to our people and processes.
