Freedom, flexibility, choice. Composable sounded like the perfect solution. But as our CTO 🇩🇰 Filip Bech-Larsen puts it, "composability without direction and guardrails quickly becomes chaos." In his latest blog post, Filip explores how we can move from composable regrets to practical composability - a smarter, more grounded approach to building digital experiences. Read his reflections here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dXmRAV7M
When composable first arrived, it promised freedom. Freedom to choose the best tools, to move faster, and to stay flexible. And honestly, who wouldn’t want that? Fast forward a few years… and I keep hearing from teams who feel a bit stuck. What looked like agility on paper turned into higher complexity, a web of integrations, higher costs, and digital experiences that don’t always connect the way they should. I’ve started calling it composable regrets. Not because composable is bad (it’s not!), but because we’ve learned some hard lessons from the first wave. The biggest one being that composability without direction and guardrails quickly becomes chaos. The next step has to be practical composability that gives openness and choice without the constant juggling act. I’ve shared a few thoughts about this in a new blog post on the Umbraco blog. If you’re working with or thinking about composable, I’d love for you to give it a read. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dhbHXEtZ (the picture is from a recent trip to Hamburg where some simple coloured umbrellas made a street look really cool! - and yes, I'll do my hair for the next photo :-D)

🇸🇪 Tack för den här gången, Sverige! What a day! The Umbraco Partner Summit 2025 in Stockholm brought together partners, customers, and friends from across Sweden for a full day of insights, inspiration, and togetherness. Umbracokalaset also took place on the same day as the Partner Summit. It was an incredible festival filled with learning, community spirit, and celebration - and by the end of the day, the two events came together seamlessly, showing once again how central our community is to everything we do. From State of Umbraco and Product Updates to the Enterprise Readiness Panel, and sessions on collaboration, brand, and creativity - the day was all about celebrating our community, strengthening partnerships, and sharing knowledge together. A big thank you to all our speakers, partners, and attendees for making it such a memorable day 🌤️ We already look forward to next time 💙💛

🌱 Your next favorite garden might be… open source? In his latest blog, Allen Smith compares the Umbraco community to a thriving garden, and honestly, we couldn’t agree more 🌻🌿 Just like plants, open source communities need sunshine (encouragement), water (collaboration), and a little fertilizer (humor helps, too) 😄 Whether you love writing docs, mentoring newcomers, coding, organizing events, or just cheering others on, there’s a pathway for you in this garden. Check out Allen’s blog to discover how you can get involved and grow alongside the friendly folks who make Umbraco what it is. 👉 umbra.co/43e5aPB #UmbracoCommunity #OpenSource #H5YR #Umbraco

Myth: You need a monolithic DXP to deliver modern digital experiences. Sounds familiar? The idea is that the only way forward is to invest in an all-in-one platform (even if half the features never get used). The truth is, most organizations don’t need such a heavy setup, and many can’t justify the cost. With Umbraco, you start with a strong CMS foundation and simply add what makes sense for your business, like Engage, Workflow, or key integrations. ✅ So, myth busted. You don’t need a heavy suite to succeed. What you need is a flexible CMS that grows with you. Are you still team monolith or ready for more flexibility?

🌍 How do you grow open-source connections across the GCC? By showing up, sharing knowledge, and building partnerships that last. This week at GITEX GLOBAL, we’ve done exactly that - meeting with partners, customers, and new connections to strengthen Umbraco’s footprint in the region. A true highlight was hosting 26 guests from 14 agencies at Amazonico Dubai for an evening of great conversations, collaboration, and community. We also met with both existing and new partners to explore opportunities and future projects that will continue driving Umbraco’s growth across the GCC. A big thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with us - your energy and insights are what make the Umbraco community so special. We're heading home inspired and excited for what’s ahead!
