	This mod received an honorable mention at the 2025 Cacowards on Doomworld!

NOVA IV is a 32-map MBF21-compatible megawad released in 2025. It is the sequel of NOVA III, NOVA II: New Dawn and NOVA: The Birth, and was aimed at newer or inexperienced Doom mappers and composers. The project was founded by Ryan Anderson (obake) in January 10, 2024, and led by obake and Novaseer. The development took 16 months, and the first release candidate was published in May 1, 2025.

On November 14, 2025, in the third release candidate, multiple maps or content were cut and replaced due to various reasons, such as the original MAP20, MAP22, MAP31, and some content from MAP30 and MAP33 (now MAP32). The cut content has been stated to be in development with standalone projects.^[1]

NOVA IV received an honorable mention at the 2025 Cacowards.

Custom content[edit]

The WAD file contains an embedded DeHacked patch that adds a number of decorations along with two custom monsters. The mod also includes an OPTIONS, COMPLVL, UMAPINFO, MUSINFO, ZMAPINFO, SNDINFO, SBARINFO, and DECORATE lump as well as the DECOHack source file for the DeHackEd patch, a custom color palette, and an ENDOOM lump.

Party cacodemon: A modified cacodemon with a party hat on and a fake nose. It has 400 hit points and shoots out a volley of three pies, with the outer two flying straight while the middle one is homing. These enemies only appear in the secret maps (as restricted by the original project rules), and within a secret encounter in MAP30.
Synthetic cyberdemon: A cyberdemon with 1000 hit points that has gray skin and green wiring, distinguishing it from the regular version.
