The game is addicting, and the main crab sprite looks like I'm about to fight an Undertale boss lol. The music is pretty funky, I dig it!
You are become dead and all cookies are belong to crab. Nice game, well done!
Wow, this is awesome! Really enjoyed beating this. I did feel like the random chance to lose everything in a box was really harsh. I feel like there’s lots of ways to have made it sting less, like just disabling one box a round at random would have been enough. Or if you needed it to feel so punishing, maybe degrade every die in the box down a size, and if it’s a d4, then remove it instead? Of course, being a digital game, you can actually pretty easily use d2s, d3s, d5s, etc…
Anyway, I do feel the only way I was able to win was luckily betting all in on a single box a few rounds and not getting punished for it. Definitely was risking it for the biscuit. Definitely one of the best interpretations of the theme I’ve encountered yet I think. Great work!
Whoa! I really like that. We were just talking about how we might make the game just a bit less random if we were to build on this idea at some point and I can't believe I hadn't even thought of downgrading or upgrading dice as a mechanic.
Thank you so much for your feedback!
Oh this is going to take some time for me to understand - but I think it's worth that!
Beautiful art and great soundtrack. As a non-gambling guy, I can't really comment about the gameplay, but it felt pretty well-designed
The art style was right up my alley, loved it!
This game really fits the theme. I was confused at first, but after get it, it's a great game, even though it’s hard. A tutorial would definitely help.
Once i got the hang of it, i really enjoyed it. Great Sound design tho! Will come back to try again.
This is a fantastic game! I absolutely love the core mechanic. This could seriously be a super addicting fun game. I think the constant risk of losing some or all of your dice is definitely a very make-or-break aspect for most players. It might be nice if the odds weren’t so entirely stacked against you. Since you have to survive many rounds against the boss, there are LOTS of opportunities to have things go wrong. Maybe instead of each box having a goal for a sum of dice, there’s a goal for a certain number of dice? That way there’s just one less variable for players to lose against. You could also consider having the crab delete the dice at the end of the roll not the start (not sure about this once since I think the idea of losing your dice is pretty huge to the gameplay). Or maybe a fourth slot that doesn’t have any rewards that just reduces the chance of the crab actually deleting your dice?
Regardless, with some polishing and some tweaks, this is an incredibly addictive game!
Wow, thanks for the feedback! Your ideas are very thought provoking, I definitely think with some more iterations and experiments like that there are improvements to be made to the core gameplay. I like the idea of a fourth "low risk low reward" box 🤔
Thanks for playing and the thoughtful comment.
Thank you! I did end up playing it again and finally managed to win. It genuinely is a really addicting game!
I was thoroughly confused at first but I got the hang of it
Always bet on right. I liked the visual style! I think a tutorial would be super super beneficial. I read the description a few times, but I was a bit lost on the mechanics.
Pixel minimalism gets me every time. The music and SFX fit the vibe so well too!
I’m not familiar with this kind of game, so a more extensive instructions would have been helpful. It felt like I was just guessing and hoping for the best rather than making any intentional risks. :)
Your minimalist style has really sunk into my soul, but I also want to mention the basic mechanics of the game, which, to my surprise, really interested me after a few rounds.
Pretty fun. Love the crab sprite!
Interesting game, bit tricky for sure. Once you get the gist you know how to play!!
I couldn't beat the crab I'm too stupid haha, very nice art and relaxing music to not feel to stressed!
A nice polished game I could play sometime again!
Wow I think this might be my favourite game I've played so far! I also made a dice battle game but I think you came up with much more interesting risk mechanics. The crab smash causing you to lose all the dice in that spot is brutal but I love it. I ended up gathering as many coin dice and multipliers and banking them all in one spot so I could buy all the dice in the shop. I like how you kept the aesthetics really simple so you could focus on a really fun game loop. Also the music is awesome. Well done! I hope you try my inferior dice game haha
Thank you for giving it a shot Ollie! The crab is merciless, it seems to always punish me when I dump all dice in one spot. Glad it worked out for you!
I really enjoyed your take on the theme with Wizard Dice, by the way! I’d love to see more if you continue working on it. :)
Damn, it’s super cool! Really great work
Not enough rpgs especially with dice on this jam. Great work with the game mechanics.
Funny enough the game I made was initially inspired by dice. Really like what you've done here!
A unique and addictive loop. Nicely done!
