How does the game fit the theme?
You must bet big to make enough money, and spend soul for the chance of a better outcome. You are at the mercy of the odds, but you have to take a chance every once in a while to win.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?

Took me a while to understand how to play it. I am probably too dumb for it. Even now i still can't understand why was i loosing in some situations. But idea is nice

A very relaxing game and an extremely fun spin on blackjack. I love the music as well as the sfx, the spritework is clean too! It was a bit hard to read the numbers, but a very solid game overall! :D

Relaxing Blackjack game with a nifty twist adjusting the odds. Love the music and sound effects. I'm not a huge fan of the pixel art style, but that's very much a personal thing I know. I found it hard to read some of the numbers on the cards because the font was only made up of a few pixels at that size. Good solid jam entry. No biscuits though (or did I miss them?) - maybe we all take that bit of the theme too literally but incorporating it does suggest that the game was made during the jam week, which is why we included them! Well done.

Really good game, with efficient mechanics! The music fits really well. The only downside I saw is that the numbers may be overpixelated on the cards sometimes.

By the way good job ! :)

Pretty neat take on the theme, always glad to see a non-biscuit related game :D

Since I also developed a blackjack I have to say this is an amazing execution and development of the game!

Mobile friendly and really expandable with  more features and roguelike elements!

Quick Suggestion:

  • For BlackJack newbies its always good to auto calculate the hand values and show them the value

Congrats!

I love how you implement this new mechanic in the blacjack that is a game that already have risk, I really enjoyed your game.

I liked the idea of pushing the odds in your favor. Neat twist.

Nice twist on Blackjack, good job.

Great game! I really enjoyed the concept.

Nice game! Fun concept that makes for an enjoyable play. Tutorial was a nice addition as it made it easy to understand the game and start playing.

Great game overall, when i realized that you can put your souls onto a card to ruin the dealers cards i was honestly surprized! an already popular game, but with a great use of the theme! there were so many good things about your game and honestly not many (or even any) issues. the game could use some other features and become a full steam release! nice job!

Really cool game and I love the music. Sometimes I thought I was winning a hand and then it told me I was broke, not sure if I was misreading the cards. Either way, really fun and great idea.

Developer (1 edit)

thank you for the feedback! That bug you described used to definitely exist in an earlier build, but I thought I 100% no doubt patched it before submission, maybe I accidentally let it back in? The devils in the details I suppose. Thank you!

EDIT: Figured out what happened! Not a bug, but a poorly communicated feature on our end. If you won a hand but didn't make enough money to make it to the next day, you lose, which can be miscommunicated as having lost the hand. Our bad! Will keep this in mind the next time we create a game, as this is poor communication from us. Can't fix it without updating the game however, so it'll have to be there just to annoy me I suppose.

Nice game! Easy to understand the rules, though some cards image aren't totally clear

Love the idea that I can deal with devil by selling my soul to kinda cheat a little bit to have a higher chance of winning the game! Initially I didn't know that the +- buttons are interactable since they are greyed out so I was a bit confuse xd. Overall, great job!

Developer(+1)

Good feedback, I never really thought about the buttons thing, will keep that in mind for the next jam. Thank you! Will play your game when I have access to my computer

No worries, take your time :D

Great twist to emphasise the theme! Great tutorial too. Good job

Ok, this is 5 all around. The black jack mechanics are clean. Love the shop and how you are dealing with the devil as the concept of gambling and cheating. Great game!

This is a really cool concept! Love the visuals, and huge props for making such a clear and detailed tutorial - something rare to see in a jam game. Great work!
