really really strong atmosphere, particularly when first dropped in. seeing the variables seem to tick down at first....terrifying!

this is probably the most unique way Ive seen a solo RPG framed before!
I'm still beginning to make through it, but I love the faux corporate training videos and backing audio and aesthetics of the handbook, the little bits of flavor dialogue (& the whole playlist!! and whatever's going on with the code phrases(?) ) Definitely probably spending more than an hour hunting everything down, hehe :P
for anyone else who gets lost for a bit, you need the handbook to start! just opening the app doesnt give direct instructions.
also as a small added note, heads up that it looks for "DECOMISSION" (spelled with one m not two) in the ANXS codebreaker
this was fun. the twist of the player not being "you" was interesting! I'm curious now if each route was a separate person dialling, with how different things could be, and the different numbers. and the meeting of the two you could talk to in the ng+....one of them being the one you name, even. the "true" main character, with a story that mirrors our first. much to think about!
everyones talking about the body horror, ofc, but i have to praise the institutional horror of this too. the nurse (newer to it, probably less able to hide the actual reactions) and their blatant disregard and the doctor who is "kinder" but dehumanising nonetheless. and if you pretend to be good enough maybe things can go "back to normal" but you have to get through whatever they do to you. terrifying, but unfortunately in a very mundane way.
(excellent visuals btw!)
neat concept! very curious to see what kinda advanced gamebook IF we'll be getting in the future, with ai to streamline things a little.
would it be possible to see all the responses we typed in the future? for now, it only shows the initial one in the certificate, but I think having a more detailed log would be neat!)
i know this is old, but (spoilers ofc)
about the gift source, if Im reading this right typing "beatrice castiglioni" in the prompt says she gave it to her, and "I" is used in an entry about her grandchild telling her about something like battlers promise. given what happens with the rest of them, I wouldn't be too surprised if she was also digitized at some point and is butterflydb in some way.
so my personal read is "record" is her daughter, the equivalent of kuwadorian beatrice, who also had her own child, lion (in something analogous to canon? typing "ootsuki" mentions "the true face of the Ushiromiya family head and what he had done to her and her daughter") who becomes the text seen in "restore".
my guess was something messed up with beatrice II's digitization, given how the text in record goes, and it was tried for a second/third time with lion, which explains why their disappearance happens in 1985. as for why shannon's still writing until 1988--maybe she's serving as a hope spot, just like in canon? but one that's eventually failed, evidently...
