Well done! The early access will have a more forgiving time limit. 😉

I'm glad you like it!

Practice makes perfect!

Sure! It just adds extra time to the remaining time.

Alright! Well done!! When the early access is out, you can try the full course with an easier time limit. 😁

Well done!

Yeah, the composer did a great job. I'm glad you like it!

Thanks for the screenshot. I'll look into it.

The game is very cpu heavy.

Ooh not bad! I appreciate your dedication. 😉

That's low. What are your system specs?

I have no clue about Roboto. 🤣

Impressive!

What could be improved about the dashboard graphic? (It's a placeholder actually.)

Get the latest update. 😉 It gives you 4 extra seconds.

I'm glad you like it! Perhaps I should add some extra time. 😆

I'm glad you like it!

Thanks! Did you try 0.9.1?

Thanks for the video! It includes everything that I need. I'll look into it.

Oh really? Is it possible to make a video of it? It doesn't matter if it's with your mobile phone.

Thanks for letting me know! Yes, I made it pretty difficult on purpose. However, if no one makes it to stage 3, I'll have to lower the difficulty.

Hint: make sure you don't crash, I release the turbo in certain corners to get more grip and there are 2 corners where I use the brakes. 😉

Alright, thanks for the feedback!

About the motion sickness: in the options menu you can change the first person view settings. 😉 The preset "comfort" might help!

No problem! Tip: lift off the throttle in slightly sharper corners instead of braking simultaneously with the throttle. 😉 There are 2 corners where I effectively brake. They are both in stage 2 and one is the last corner.

No problem. 😉 Anyhow, I'll have to make the boost more obvious. And fix the buggy counter.

Thank you very much for the feedback! And I'm glad you like it.

The screenshot says you've reached stage 3 at your 2nd try. Is that correct, or is the game wrong?

Nice! When you exit the game, did you see some statistics? Can you make a screenshot of that too?

To all who have played the test version: you can leave a screenshot of the statistics here.

I feel you. I lost my dad in 2013. He taught me how to play Super Hang-On on my Sega Genesis, he did the shifting when playing Turbo OutRun in the arcade (until he noticed you can choose auto-shifting), ... so to honor him, I've put him in my games as a mechanic/opponent.

About your game: I played it for a minute. You seem to level up very quickly which breaks the flow. And to be honest: I don't care about points and upgrades. I just want to race and finish before I consider going for the highest score.
You seem to have fallen into the usual perspective trap: scale objects linearly with the distance which looks weird. In reality, objects get exponentially bigger when they get closer. In my first prototype I used sin/cos to mimick this effect.
There are a lot of cars and they really get in your way. Sometimes they are just unavoidable because they completely block the whole road. I believe the most fun comes from navigating the corners. Avoiding obstacles/traffic is secondary. Also, are they moving towards you, instead of racing with you?
The light cone at night looks really silly. x-D But I like the idea of only being able to see the rear lights, although I would've just made the whole car black instead of invisible, except in the light cone.

That's awesome! I do have some footage captured for a French channel that will feature the composer and the game's soundtrack.

The footage doesn't have any music though.

I can send you the footage + trailer tomorrow evening!

I haven't uploaded a game yet, but I will upload a demo later this year.

Have you tried another route? If so, does the same thing happen? Luckily you don't miss out on anything. There's nothing to unlock in this mode.

Hello! Do you hear something when you press the throttle? If you do, you know the throttle is working.

Now, here 's the thing: you're supposed to start the engine first. To do that, hold the throttle until you hear the engine roar. Now the race will start.

I hope this will fix the problem!

Thank you very much! When I've finished certain assets I'm going to make a trailer. After that I'm going to make a page on Steam. The early access demo will take a little longer.

It's very much inspired by Super Hang-On. Think of it as a spiritual successor.

I tried it and it looks quite nice!
However, I use an AZERTY keyboard, so the controls feel very awkward. I'd prefer using the arrow keys. ;-)

It would also be nice to have a short countdown sequence before the race starts.

Another thing I noticed is that the car seems to rotate around its center, which looks a bit odd. In reality, cars pivot more around the rear axle when steering.

Finally, I kept getting hit from behind, which became quite frustrating. Because of that, I wasn’t able to finish a single lap. In my own game, I did whatever I could to prevent this.

(Although it still occasionally happens, I've done my best to minimize the impact.)

This really stuck with me. From the moment I saw the 130 signs, I had a feeling what this was leading up to.

Funny thing is, I’ve been planning to include something similar in my own racing game someday: a game mode where crashing has real consequences: an arriving ambulance, aftermath scenes… maybe even a message about what it means to take risks.

Beautiful work!

You could make a video of your screen with your phone. 😉 Don't worry about the quality. And you can upoad it to WeTransfer and paste the link here.

Oh, by the way: in which wheel mode are you in?

(1 edit)

Thanks for noticing me!

- Does the issue happen when you finish a division? The last race in Division 1 takes place at night in the city and through the jungle. Or did you happen to encounter the new opponent? (Unknown/Ine)

- By the way, have you already unlocked the motorcycle in the current version?

I get the naming convention. But what if Turbo OutRun Reimagined didn't exist?
Yeah, the branching paths... You're probably right. xD

Eventually. In fact, I'm developing the new game inside TOI. So all needed improvements for the new game will also be applied to TOI. If the new game is finished, I'm going to remove anything TOI-related from that game. Meanwhile there won't be any new content soon I'm afraid. But if the new game is finished, I'm going to add new stuff.

Anyhow, do you have a preference for the name of the new game? ^^,

Because I can't sell the first one. 😆 The first one is going to stay Turbo OutRun Reimagined with its own assets, music, ... And it's actually my sandbox to test out new ideas.

This new game is going to have its own style, music, ... And it's going to be more focussed and polished. That way I can actually sell it.

Oh, I have no idea. This game is just a pc game made in Unity. It's a game, made with modern technology in a retro jacket.

The fact that the wheel is turning by itself is a good sign. It's mapped correctly. In the camibration screen, do you see the raw input values move independently? And culd you make a screenshot of the calibration screen with all axes in their neutral position?

That's awesome. Thanks!

Oops, I didn't remove them in the first stage. 😆
