Accessories[edit | edit source]

Game Link Cable[edit | edit source]

The Game Link Cable allows multiplayer for 2–4 players or trading data between multiple systems for compatible games. One cable is required for 2 players and each additional player requires one more cable. Some multiplayer games only require one cartridge, where the other systems download the game data through the cable. Other multiplayer games require each system to have the same cartridge inserted.

e-Reader[edit | edit source]

The e-Reader is an accessory that can plug into the cartridge slot to allow scanning of cards with printed Dot Code. Cards can include full games or unlocks for special items.

It featured a folding design, LCD screen light, and a rechargeable battery. It can play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games. In 2005, a revision of the Game Boy Advance SP changed the LCD front light to a back light.

Released2005

The Game Boy Micro is the second redesign of the Game Boy Advance and was released in Japan on September 13, 2005, North American on September 19, 2005, and Europe on November 4, 2005. It is much smaller and the screen is much brighter than when the Game Boy Advance SP was first released. One drawback, however, is its inability to play Game Boy and Game Boy Color games due to its smaller size. The faceplate can be swapped with another to change the look of the system.
