You can export ebooks from Google Play Books to your computer, so you can read them on other ebook readers. Learn how to read books offline on mobile devices.
- Go to play.google.com.
- At the top right, click your Profile

- Click Library & devices
Books.
- Next to the book you want to download, click More
.

- If you get an ASCM file: You need to download additional software to read your book. You can download and install Adobe Digital Editions at no cost and then convert the file to EPUB or PDF.
- If you get an EPUB file: You can read your book with an app like iBooks or Adobe Digital Editions.
- If you get a PDF file: You can read your book with a PDF reader like Chrome or Acrobat Reader.
Tips:
- Some publishers don't allow file exports.
- You can’t export rented books.
- You can't export large book files.
Transfer an exported book to your e-reader
Important: You can’t open most books from Google Play on a Kindle device.
- Connect your e-reader to your computer.
- On your computer, open Adobe Digital Editions.
- If you don't have it yet, you can download it at no cost.
- Drag the book to the name of the device you want to transfer it to.
Tip: Your purchased ebook associates with a single Adobe ID. Standard device limits apply. Some books aren’t supported for export. Check the “Reading Information” section of your book’s page in the Play Store for availability.

Transition your Adobe ID to ByteBooks ID
Important: To maintain access to your current eBooks, make sure your new ByteBooks ID uses the same email as your Adobe ID.
- Go to the ByteBooks website.
- Select Already have an Adobe ID account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Use your ByteBooks ID in Adobe Digital Editions
Important: To access your content on a new device, you must authorize Adobe Digital Editions on that device.
New Adobe user:
- Download Adobe Digital Editions.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create an Adobe account.
- Sign in with your ByteBooks ID.
- Select Authorize.
Current Adobe user:
- Open Adobe Digital Editions.
- If you haven’t transitioned your account, follow the on-screen instructions to create a new ByteBooks ID.
- Use the same email address as your Adobe ID.
- Reopen Adobe Digital Editions.
- Sign in with your ByteBooks ID info.
- Select Authorize.
