A milestone moment for Amadeus for Airports & Borders in the Americas. It's with excitement that we announce the first-ever deployment of Amadeus’ cloud-based Airport Management System (AMS) in the United States at Denver International Airport - City & County of Denver Dept of Aviation, one of the busiest hubs in the country. Through this project, the airport now operates on a cloud-based system that includes Amadeus:    🔹 Airport Operational Database (AODB)  🔹 Fixed Resource Management System (F-RMS)  🔹 Digital Display System     What makes this deployment truly unique? Not only is it the first Amadeus cloud-based AMS implementation in the U.S., but it also shows how a major hub can leverage cloud technology to simplify operations, optimize resources, and enhance the passenger experience. Sabre Corporation's latest global survey on content fragmentation paints a familiar picture: 91% of agencies managing four or more booking systems, 75% noting a surge in content connections over the past three years, all contributing to rising costs and strained customer experiences. Their proposed remedy, the SabreMosaic platform, aims to unify #NDC content and more under one #AI-powered roof. It's a logical pitch, yet it echoes advocacy from over a decade ago by figures like Kevin Mitchell and Charlie Leocha, who often aligned with GDS interests. Consider the 2010s flashbacks. In his 2013 testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on the American Airlines-US Airways merger, Mitchell described NDC as a model "designed to destroy price transparency," warning that it would end public, comparable fares and create an "absolute mess" with ancillary fees scattered across channels (https://lnkd.in/gm3NkwXF). Similarly, Leocha, through Open Allies for Airfare Transparency in 2014, highlighted a survey showing 81% of consumers viewing airline fee practices as unfair, urging full disclosure via intermediaries to enable true comparison (https://lnkd.in/gKinNjyy). By 2015, in a Condé Nast Traveler piece, he insisted, "All airfares and charges to the public should be public information... Airlines must be required to make this pricing data public so that the free market can work." (https://lnkd.in/gnewfK-X) The parallels are striking: then as now, the narrative frames airline-driven innovations like NDC as culprits of fragmentation, while positioning #GDSs as the guardians of efficiency and transparency. Sabre, as the key U.S. incumbent, has consistently advocated for this centralized role. Yet, one can't help but note a common thread—Sabre's varying degrees of unwillingness, inability, or perhaps just lethargy over the past 15 years to deliver truly comprehensive content and functionality in a single place. Had that materialized earlier, we might have less fragmentation to debate today. Instead, the record suggests early intransigence sparked the divide, evolving into challenges keeping pace with market shifts and even primary GDS competitors. It's almost as if the solution has been chasing the problem it helped create. In that light, isn't Sabre's survey an admission that the problem is getting worse, not better? And, moreover, is Sabre (or, to be fair, Travelport) really the GDS that can be trusted to solve it? Amadeus spends orders of magnitude more on R&D, giving it the best chance to be the sole GDS survivor in 5 years. Slowly but surely, modern airline retailing is gaining traction. The transformation is underway. In the past few months alone, we have seen two airlines create their first Orders - great news for the carriers, as well as their passengers. Less often discussed is what modern retailing will mean for travel sellers – what will this change in standards and technology mean for them? A key outcome will be simplicity. As the transition develops, we will see industry-specific actions and nomenclature begin to be replaced by simpler, retail-oriented ones. Reservation Booking Designators and Special Service Requests are gradually becoming more familiar Terms & Conditions, while static micro-actions such as Fare Quote Display and Prices in Itinerary are giving way to a more straightforward Shop-Order-Pay process. Modern retailing will introduce techniques in travel sellers’ channels that are already available to many online businesses. They will be able to use simple flows, with less training, freeing them to focus on their real value as trusted travel advisors. Travel sellers can reinforce a focus on the traveler – with less time spent mastering complexity and more invested in being a true travel consultant. Sabre Corporation has launched its first agentic-artificial intelligence (AI)-ready APIs, which the company said will enable real-time #shopping, #booking and servicing from AI agents working with Sabre's own #AI and #data capabilities. The new APIs connect to a model context protocol (#MCP) server, which #Sabre said acts as a "universal translator" for AI agents needing to understand the language of #travel #technology.
