When did Sandy join id?

The vague claim that he joined 10 weeks before Doom's release seems to have appeared from the earliest draft of this page, but I haven't found a source for this. This would be around late September or early October, which, assuming Sandy did the finishing touches on E2M2 and E3M5, conflicts with the modification date of the Doom press release's WAD file of September 24. Is the exact date known anywhere? It'd have pretty big implications for how much work done on E2M2 and E3M5 was actually him. Plerb (talk) 21:17, 1 April 2024 (CDT)

I did a quick search-and-scan for the first mention of Sandy in the Masters of Doom book in an attempt to pinpoint the timeframe around which he would have joined, and unless I'm misinterpreting the timeline, it does mention that it happened sometime in September 1993, albeit somewhat vaguely. --MF38 (talk) 03:15, 2 April 2024 (CDT)

Another reference point is the Eye of the Monitor review columns for the Dragon Magazine: Sandy Petersen reviewed a preview of Doom from before he was employed at id Software, and then wrote another column after getting hired. Also fucking whoops, my doompres.wad was dated September 24, 2023, because that's when I installed the copy I was looking at, so that date is completely irrelevant. Definitely think Sandy joined earlier than that :P Plerb (talk) 23:02, 2 April 2024 (CDT)
