This project is not covered by Drupal’s security advisory policy.

This module creates a simple entity called block_entity, where the modules that provide blocks are the bundles (e.g. block, views, webform). This can be used with entityreference fields and views for a very simple way to place one or more blocks within content or in a view block.

The initial objective was to provide an easy way for content managers to add blocks to different page regions (with views or display suite) on a per-node basis. This helps avoid teaching content managers how to use more complex systems like Panels when that complexity or learning curve isn't useful.

Blocks are not currently tested for permissions or performance, so they may load when they shouldn't, or the overall page performance may not be optimal.

Still, this is a good starting point if such an itch must be scratched.
