WCSD First Day of School 2026–27 🎒 Today, we welcomed back students across Washoe County School District for the first day of the 2026–27 school year! From excited reunions and new classrooms to first-day jitters and big smiles, our campuses were filled with energy and possibility. ✨📚 WCSD Superintendent Tiffany McMaster and Nevada State Deputy Superintendent for Academics & Student Achievement Dr. Torrey Palmer spent the day with WCSD Trustees visiting several schools, including Mendive Middle School, Reed High School, Cannan Elementary School, Stead Elementary School, and Vaughn Middle School. Along the way, they met students and staff, welcomed our newest Kindergarten learners, toured Reed's new learning spaces with University of Nevada, Reno President Brian Sandoval, and explored the brand-new campuses at Stead and Vaughn as students settled into their new schools. We also want to recognize that not all of our students returned to school today. Our Incline schools will begin classes next week, and several schools are experiencing delayed starts due to wildfire impacts in the area. We look forward to welcoming those students back as soon as it is safe to do so. Here's to a great year of learning, growth, and opportunity ahead. Welcome back, WCSD! 💙💛 #WeAreWCSD #WCSDproud #FirstDayWCSD #BackToSchoolWCSD #ReadyForSchool 🎒📚✨
