Seminar Report Format Guidelines

Seminar Report Format

COMPONENTS OF A SEMINAR REPORT The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and bound should be as follows: Cover page Certificate Declaration Acknowledgement Abstract Table of Contents List of Figures List of Tables 1. Introduction 2. Literature Survey 2.1Background 2.2 Outcome of Literature survey 2.3 Problem Statement 2.4 Objectives 3. Methodology and work done 4. Conclusion and Future work References Appendix

Binding: Use transparency and thick binding sheet as a front & rear cover (do not use spiral binding) Length: Title page (1 pg) Abstract (1 pg, between 300 - 500 words), contents page (1pg), Introduction (2 to 5 pages), Body ( e.g. Literature Review, Problem Description, actual work done etc) (10 to 20 pages), Conclusion (1 pg), References (1 to 2 pages) and Appendixes (Optional: 2 to 5 pages)

Page Format: Margins (left, right, top, bottom 1 inch), Headings: Main Headings - Heading 1 Arial 16, align center, bold, numbered with set of digits, leave 2 blank lines (12pt new times roman) after the main heading Sub headings: level -1: Heading 2 Arial 14, align left, bold, italics, numbered with set of digits Sub headings: level -2: New times roman, 12 pt, bold, left aligned Body: 12 pt new times roman, justified 1.5 spaced text. Figures/ Tables: Place Tables/Figures/Images in text as close to the reference. Captions should be Times New Roman 10-point bold. They should be numbered (e.g., Table 1 or Figure 2), please note that the word for Table and Figure are spelled out. Figures captions should be centered beneath the image or picture, and Table captions should be centered above the table body. Page Numbering, Headers and Footers: Do not include headers, footers. Include page numbers (bottom middle) in your report. Exclude abstract & content page while numbering. References: List and number all bibliographical references in 10-point Times, single-spaced, at the end of your paper. When referenced in the text, enclose the citation number in square brackets, for example [1]. Below are the samples for journal paper, books and Web references. [1] A.B. Smith, C.D. Jones, and E.F. Roberts, Article Title, Journal, Publisher, Location, Date, pp. 1-10. [2] Jones, C.D., A.B. Smith, and E.F. Roberts, Book Title, Publisher, Location, Date. [3] Clarke, M, White paper title, published year, Available: www. xyz.com/article/, Visited: 15th April 2007. Note: Sample Title page is attached to this page. A hard copy of the seminar report should be submitted to the first examiner of each session (a soft copy to each of the other examiners) at least 2 days prior to the presentation. The reports that are not submitted within the specified time frame and without necessary formatting will not considered for presentation.
