Auto Ignition Temperature: Not available Extinguishing Media: Dry chemical, foam, CO2 using manufacturers recommended technique. Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Water may be ineffective at extinguishing fire, but should be used to keep fire exposed containers cool. If a leak or spill has not ignited, use water spray to disperse the vapours and to protect personnel attempting to stop a leak. Water spray may be used to flush spills from exposure. Use self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Sensitivity to Mechanical Impact: Not sensitive Sensitivity to Static Discharge: Material may build up a static charge. Vapours may ignite if exposed to static discharge. Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Highly flammable. Products of combustion may contain CO, CO2, nitrogen oxides, and possibly SO2 and H2S. Flammable liquid/vapour may ignite explosively. Do not enter enclosed or confined spaces without proper protective equipment, including SCBA.

SECTION FOUR:

FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATA

Flash Point Closed Cup: May be below -40oC. (Depends on petroleum hydrocarbon content.)

Health Hazards (acute and chronic): Inhalation of high vapour concentrations may have results ranging from eye and respiratory irritation, dizziness, and headaches to unconsciousness, depending on concentrations and length of exposure. Liquid contact with skin may cause irritation and possible damage. Eye contact likely to cause severe pain and damage. May contain small amounts of hydrogen sulphide gas, which can build up in tank or vessel headspaces. Breathing may stop after a few seconds of exposure to hydrogen sulphide concentrations greater than 600 ppm, with immediate loss of consciousness and possible death. Residual effects after exposure to hydrogen sulphide can include shortness of breath and wheezing. Research on animals has shown effects on the respiratory, nervous and reproductive systems at concentrations above 10 [Link] benzene and nhexane. Benzene may cause leukemia and other blood diseases after prolonged or repeated exposures at high concentrations. Repeated exposure to high concentrations of n-hexane may cause nervous system damage, leading to loss of sensation and impaired movement in arms and legs. MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET PAGE 1

impounding. Advise authorities if product has entered or may enter sewers, watercourses, or extensive land areas. Federal and provincial regulations must be followed. Waste Disposal Method: Recycle as much of the recoverable product as possible. Dispose of absorbed materials at an approved disposal site or facility. Assure conformity with applicable disposal regulations. Precautions to be Taken in Handling and Storing: Do not inhale vapour and avoid contact with skin. Observe precautions for volatile, flammable vapours from absorbed materials. Toxic quantities of gases and vapours may be present in storage tanks and vessels which contain or have contained the material. Persons opening or entering these compartments should first determine if H2S is present. Do not attempt to rescue without wearing SCBA. Other Precautions: Wash thoroughly after contact. Avoid ignition sources.

SECTION EIGHT: EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES

Inhalation: In emergency situations, assess situation. Ensuring own safety use approved respiratory protection to remove the affected victim immediately from exposure. Administer artificial respiration or CPR as required. Keep at rest. Call for medical attention immediately. Skin Contact and Absorption: Wash with large amounts of water. Remove contaminated clothing. Get medical attention. Eyes: Flush with water for at least 20 minutes, lifting upper and lower eyelids at intervals. Get immediate medical attention. Ingestion: DO NOT induce vomiting. If conscious, give 1-2 glasses of milk or water to drink. (Note: Never give anything by mouth to a person who is unconscious or convulsing.) Notes to Physician: High aspiration risk. For large amounts, use careful gastric lavage. Eructation and gastroenteritis may be a complication. Aspiration may cause chemical pneumonitis or lipoid pneumonia.

SECTION SEVEN: PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

Respiratory Protection (specify type): Determine the need for (and wear if necessary) respiratory protection where airborne exposures may exceed regulatory limits (for example, during amine filter changes, maintenance and other operations where significant airborne exposure to the amine/hydrocarbons can occur). Local Exhaust Ventilation: Provide where possible to capture vapours at source, minimize worker exposure and avoid accumulation of explosive vapours. Otherwise, provide effective general ventilation. Use explosion-proof motor and non-sparking fan in areas where explosive vapours may form. Special: No smoking, open lights or other ignition sources. Use non-sparking tools in areas where explosive vapours may form Protective Gloves: Use chemical resistant gloves to avoid skin contact (e.g. viton or butyl rubber preferable - neoprene suitable for light duty work). Eye Protection: Goggles and face shield if splashing is possible (unless full face piece respirator worn). Other Protective Clothing/Equipment: Use chemicalresistant apron or fire-retardant clothing as required by clothing policy. Work/Hygienic Practices: Keep containers closed when not in use. Wash before eating or drinking. Soiled clothing should be removed and laundered. Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled: Wear suitable respiratory and personal protection. Test area for H2S and combustible gas/vapour. Remove all ignition sources. Keep people away. Recover free liquid. Add absorbent (sand, earth, sawdust, etc.) to spill area. Minimize breathing vapours. Ventilate confined spaces. Open windows and doors. Keep out of sewers and watercourses by dyking or
