TCAD Process and Device Simulation Tools
For Windows OS
Note:
The installation steps have been tested for Windows XP, Vista and 7. So you should have no problems
regardless of the version of your OS.
The only thing you need if you are on Windows 7, is to download this [Link] file and copy it to your
"System32" folder (if you have a 32-bit version) or your SysWOW64 folder (if you have a 64-bit
version), before you start the installation.

1. Download Silvaco TCAD tools from any of the following sources:

2. Download the .rar file uploaded here on the forum, it contains two files: [Link] and
[Link]. Ill mention how to use those later in this document.

3. Install the Standard Floating License Manager (SFLM) by double clicking:
4. Check Install License Server and click Next
5. Wait till the installation completes
6. Enter any password when promoted, its important to keep this for future administrative tasks.
7. Press OK an exit the SFLM setup
8. Click Start > All Programs > SFLM > Stop Server
9. Restart your computer in the Safe mode 1.
10. Copy the file [Link] located in the license folder to the following location:
C:\sedatools\lib\[Link]\8.0.6.R\x86-nt
And replace the existing file. 2

Restart normally, then press F8 before the Windows logo appears and then choose Start in Safe Mode.
This is the crack.
11. Restart your computer in the Normal Mode.
12. Click Start > All Programs > SFLM > Start Server
13. Open your internet browser and type: [Link] or equivalently type
[Link] where <servername> is the name of your PC.
14. Type in the password you entered earlier
15. Click Register Online
16. Enter your contact information (You can enter fake information), then click Next.
17. Click Next
18. Copy the code you receive (in the position marked by the red box, youll get a different code).
19. Double click the file [Link] provided in the license folder.
20. Paste the server Code Name in the position shown in figure
21. Save the new license file.
22. Open your internet browser; type: [Link] or equivalently type
[Link] where <servername> is the name of your PC.
23. Click Install New License
24. Type your password when promoted.
25. Click Install Saved File
26. Click Browse and find the modified license file you saved in step 19
27. If the installation is successful, you will receive a message similar to this one:

29. Now press Show Active Licenses, you should find a long list like this:
30. Exit your Browser. Congratulations! The Setup is complete.
31. To run the main program, click Start > All Programs > [Link] tools > DecBuild
32. Note that for the program to work correctly you need to first change the working directory.
Click: Edit > Preferences
33. From the Working Directory tab, change the path to the one shown or any other existing path.
34. To see an example, click Examples > Athena Examples from the menu bar. Then choose any
example, like the one shown here:
35. Click the green play button.
36. There you are, a MOS Transistor!
