byrangetops,refrigerators,orsinksshallbeconsideredasseparate
countertopspaces.Receptaclesrenderedinaccessiblebyappliances
fastenedinplaceorappliancesoccpyingdedicatedspaceshallnotbe
consideredastheserequiresoutlets.
Receptaclesoutletsshall,insofaraspracticable,bespacedequal
distancesapart.Receptacleoutletsinfloorsshallnotbecountedaspart
oftherequirednumberofreceptacleoutletunlesslocatedclosetothe
wall.
Atleastonewallreceptacleshallbeinstalledinthebathroomadjacent
inthebasinlocation.
Foraonefamilydwelling,atleastonereceptacleoutletshallbe
installedoutdoors.
Foraonefamilydwelling,atleastonereceptacleoutletinadditionto
anyprovidedforlaundryequipment,shallbeinstalledineachbasement
andineachattachedgarage.
Outletsinothersectionofthedwellingunitforspecialappliances,such
aslaundryequipment,shallbeplacedwithin1800mmoftheintended
locationoftheappliance.
Atleastonereceptacleoutletshallbeinstalledforthelaundry.
3.Inadwellingunitthatisanapartmentorlivingareainamultifamily
dwellingwherelaundryfacilitiesareprovidedonthepremisesthatare
availabletoallbuildingoccupancies,alaundryreceptacleshallnotbe
required.
4.Inotherthanonefamilydwellingswherelaundryfacilitiesarenotbe
installedorpermitted,alaundryreceptacleshallnotberequired.
Asusedinthissection,a"wallspace"shallbeconsideredawall
unbrokenalongthefloorlinebydoorways,fireplaces,andsimilar
openings.Eachwallspace600ormoremmwideshallbetreated
individuallyandseparatelyfromtheotherwallspaceswithintheroom.
Awallspaceshallbepermittedtoincludetwoormorewallsora
room(aroundcorners)whereunbrokenatthefloorline.
Thereceptacleoutletsrequiredbythissectionshallbeinadditiontoany
receptaclethatispartofanylightingfixtureorappliances,located
withincabinetorcupboard,orlocatedover1600mmabovethefloor.
5.Permanentlyinstalledelectricbaseboardheatersequippedwith
factoryinstalledreceptacleoutlets,oroutletsprovidedasaseparate
assemblybythemanufacture,shallbepermittedastherequiredoutlet
oroutletsforthewallspaceutilizedbysuchpermanentlyinstalled
heaters.Suchreceptacleoutletsshallnotbeconnectedtotheheater
circuits.
LightingOutletsRequired:
(a)Dwellingunits:Atleastonewallswitchcontrolledlightingoutlet
shallbeinstalledineveryhabitableroom,inbathrooms,hallways,
stairwaysandattachedgarage:andatoutdoorentrances
Atleastonelightingoutletshallbeinstalledinanattic,underfloor
space,utilityroomandbasementonlywherthesespacesareusedfor
storageorcontainingequipmentrequiringservicing.
6.Inhabitablerooms,otherthanthekitchen,oneormorereceptacles
controlledbyawallswitchshallbepermittedinlieuoflightoutlets
7.Inhallways,stairways,andatoutdoorentrancesremote,central,or
automaticcontroloflightingshallbepermitted.
FEEDERS:
Minimumsizeorrating.Feederconductorsshallhaveanampacitynot
lowerthanrequiredtosupplytheload.Theminimumsizesshallbeas
specifiedin(a)and(b)belowundertheconditionsstipulated.Feeder
conductorsforaonefamilydwellingoramobilehomeneednotbe
largerthanserviceentranceconductors.
(a)Forspecifiedcircuits.Thefeederconductorsshallnotbesmaller
than5.5squaremmwheretheloadsuppliedconsistsofthefollowing
numberandtypesofcircuits:(1)Twoormore2wirebranchcircuits
suppliedbya2wirefeeder.(2)MOrethantwo2wirebranchcircuits
suppliedbya3wirefeeder(3)Twoormore3wirebranchcircuits
suppliedbya3wirefeeder
(b)ampacityrelativetoserviceentranceconductors.Thefeeder
conductorampacityshallnotbelowerthanthatoftheserviceentrance
conductors14squaremmorsmaller.
(c)Overloadfeeders.Whereatanytimefeederconductorsareorwillbe
overloadedthefeederconductorsshallbeincreasedinampacityto
accommodatethectualloadserved.
OPTIONALCALCULATIONMULTIFAMILYDWELLING
(a)Itshallbepermissibletocomputethefeederorserviceloadofa
multifamilydwellingwhereallthefollowingconditionsaremet:
(1)Nodwellingunitissuppliedbymorethanonefeeder
(2)Eachdwellingunitisequippedwithelectriccookingequipment.
EXCEPTION:Whenthecomputedloadformultifamilydwellingunder
thesectionwithoutcookingloadexceedsthatcomputedunderthis
sectionfortheidenticalloadpluselectriccookingexceedsthat
computedfortheidenticalloadplustheelectriccooking,thelesserof
theloadsmaybeused.
(3)Eachdwellingunitisequippedwitheitherelectricspaceheatingor
airconditioningorboth
Feedersandserviceentranceconductorswhosedemandloadis
determinedbythisoptionalcalculationshallbepermittedtohavethe
neutralloaddeterminedbythissection
theconnectedloadtowhichthedemandfactorsapplyshallincludethe
following:
(1)1500wattsforeach2wire,20Asmallappliancebranchcircuitand
eachlaundrybranchcircuit
(2)24wattspersquaremeterforgenerallightingandgeneraluse
receptacles
(3)Thenameplateratingofallappliancesthatarefastenedinplace,
permanentlyconnectedorlocatedtobeonaspecificcircuit,ranges,
wallmountedovens,countermountedcookingunits,clothesdryer,
waterheatersandspaceheaters
Ifwaterheaterelementsaresointerlockedthatallelementscannotbe
usedatthesametime,themaximumpossibleloadshallbeconsidered
thenameplateload.
(4)ThenameplateAorkVAratingofallmotorsandofalllowpower
factorload.
(5)Thelargeroftheairconditioningloadorthespaceheatingload.
